Thread: Unearned Run Scoring

Simple question. Two outs, batter hits routine grounder to 3rd baseman who throws the ball over the head of the 1st baseman for an error. Would all runs scored after the error be charged as unearned or is the baserunner who reached on the error and subsequently scores, the only unearned run and any other runs charged as earned, provided the error on the throw by the 3rd baseman was the only error in the inning?

All runs scored after that error will be unearned.

General rule is to reconstruct the inning as though the error had not occurred. If there are two outs and there was no chance of the runner beating out an error-less throw on what would have been the third out, all subsequent runs are unearned.
