Thanks Mike! I would love to know how many complainers have ever been tournament director of a tournament this size. This many teams with this many locations. If it was as easy as putting 100 names in a hat and drawing them, I'm sure they would've had things done much quicker. I know Mike, and anyone who knows Mike knows that we got the information as quick as possible. I guess it's just a shame that the weather has inconvenienced us all once again! ;)

Lets Play Ball!

What is there to complain about? Looks like Mike and his crew is working overtime to get everything going. I say hats off to them and keep up the good work. Looks like the weather may hold for us the rest of the weekend.

Good luck to all.

Ok everyone, the DE Brackets are on the website (in xls and pdf for those in hotels) and they have been email out to everyone else.

I will start off by apologizing for not making the brackets available when I said they would be - 6:00 pm. ?The teams were set by 1:00 pm following my meeting with Jim Wharton and Tim Beard but once the rain stopped around 3:00, I went out and started working on fields. ?

The big question I was trying to determine was when could the fields become playable. ?I made a judgement call not to publish the original schedule (with games starting at 8:00 - even though I had it and sent it to the website manager) when I knew that was not really possible. ?Once the decision was made to start at 11:00, I probably should have gone home and began getting the information updated and published. ?Instead I continued to work on fields with the rest of the volunteers while trying to communicate all of the changes verbally to our website manager. ?As a result the website was a bit confusing for a period of time and we made some oversight errors. ?These issues are on me.

In any case I apologize. ?Hopefully we can get the games started tomorrow and have a great finish to the tournament.

GAPSS has done a fabulous job communicating with people. In light of that, one glitch hardly warrants an apology, especially if you were working on the fields!

Laser Class - we were playing the Lasers in another very good close game. we were down by one and had two runners on. our batter hits a triple and I realize I had forgotten to report her. I went to the umpire and told him my error. He said that since I reported it it wasn't a penalty - unless their coach says something before the next batter takes a pitch. Marie new what was going on and didn't want to take away a triple from my player, or she didn't want to win on a tchnicality, either way... very classy - true sportsperson.

Marie- You and I had a conversation on Sunday and again I want to say that you showed true sportsmanship and you were very classy about the whole situation. You have a talented bunch of young ladies !

OFCERS,

Thanks to all the teams who hung in there with us! We have fine leadership in Mike Wilson, who, this being his first year, was faced with many, many, many tough decisions. The job he did was unbelievable.

All of our fields are a nice shade of brown now with all the diamond dry that was used. It is our stance as a board to do WHATEVER is necessary to get the teams playing. Some I am sure won't agree with me, but we couldn't really start working the fields until 4pm Friday with no sun that day at all. The work my crews did was beyond what they were asked to do. None complained, just were focused on getting the teams playing.

Thanks again for all who attended and were patient. We hope we put on a good tournament for you.
