Did I miss a post explaining why the hundreds of news stories, etc are popping up? Is there a way to automatically put them in a folder for people to go see if they want to??

every time I look at the site, there's 200 new posts.... is it a virus attack?

No, it's the RSS process that Rick Moorehead set up. If you don't want to be bothered by them, try blocking the college thread. You do that by going to userCP, clicking options, and way down at the bottom is a mechanism for blocking.

Oops, I just realized that the RSS feed is now taking in tons of other stuff such as World News and Ohio News. I'm not liking this at all: I could care less who got crowned Miss Marion and I go to the Times or Washington Post sites for my news. Unless Bear can figure a better way, I guess I'll just have to keep blocking each new RSS category that pops up. Hope that we will have all the new categories soon so that my blocking process doesn't last for months on end.

I don't understand the purpose of adding World News and Ohio News to the site. Surely there are other sources on the internet better suited for us to get our news. This is turning into scope creep.

Tried that Chris. It won't allow you because it comes up as a moderator.

Agree---all that extra stuff showing up was disconcerting.

What seems to be working for me, so far, is to go to UserCp (like cgs indicated above), hit the edit options choice, then scroll down to the bottom of the page where it lets you exclude certain forums from view.

Hold down the Ctrl button with your left hand while you click on the forums you don't care to view with your mouse and then save the changes. World News and Ohio News are the specific ones you want to block, along with any others that you don't need. You can switch your choices back at any time.

In looking at the Coaches Corner, I thought some of the content (although long-winded) was refreshing for a change. I actually found some advanced softball discussion - kinda like the old days of OFC...

Ok everyone please relax and take Big Chill Pill. I working on a couple of items right now on the web site. And one of the ways I'm testing is by burning News Feeds.

With out getting into all the details, I'm working on a way to Burn Softball News Feeds for Next years High School Season and College Season onto OFC-Forum.

Since were not playing High School or College Ball, I'm testing the feature by Burning News Feeds.

For the most part it seem that it working fine. So I will now disable it for now. until I need to test it some more.

Yes Sammy I really like that feed myself. And that feed will stay up as It seem allot of People like to read them in the Coaches Corner.

Well any way all the World, Ohio News Feeds are down now.

Also everyone one of the Area in the Forum that you don't want to see Can Be Excluded by going to your Control Panel and changing that option.

I'll post that in my Blog.
