GAPSS has always been our July 4th tournament but this year it is being held later in the season. Anyone know of a high quality tournament we should consider for that weekend? TIA.

The Orrville fire in the sky tourney over the 4th is a great tourney with very good and getting stronger comp.It is a 14u only tourney and had 24 teams last year from several different states. The fields are great with dragging ,watering and new lines between games and a great carnival going on in the middle of everthing. If you make the championship game there will be 3-4 thousand people packed in there watching as they are there to see a awsome fireworks display right after the championship.Of all the tourneys we have been to over the last several years this is hands down the most fun one are teams have attended.

Our director has informed me that we'll (The Xtreme organization) be hosting "Fastpitch & Fireworks" in Pickerington over the 4th in 2010. Don't have details yet regarding GG or fees, etc. Panther-Tiger are you out there?

Fire in the Sky at Orrville hands down best tournament we have ever attended. Last years semi-finals featured teams from 4 differant states. Nice family atmosphere with the carnival going on right at the park where you play. Several thousand people watching championship game and Fireworks were awsome after championship game. Tournament is for only 14u teams, I would highly recommend.

JP Wilde in Toledo. We will be having many college coaches in attendance like last year. There are also usually quality teams from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

Fire in the Sky is a GREAT tournament. Great competetion, last year had West Virginia Thunder, Pitt Power,Pitt Roadrunners, Ashland Blaze, Ohio Hurricanes and some good teams from New York, Michigan, and Ohio. Fields are the dragged, watered, and lined after EVERY game. The Orville Fire Fighters do an unbelievable job hosting this tournament. Plus, its a great family enviroment with the carnival and fireworks. Would strongly recommend it.

THANKS for the quick responses. That Fire in the Sky tournament sounds amazing. We absolutely loved playing in the Brookside Park Classic 14U-only tournament last year in Ashland. Xtreme tournament is also tempting as many of our players could stay at their homes for the weekend.

Again, many thanks for the suggestions.

Fire in the Sky tournament in Orrville was great. Fair with rides and awesome fireworks were great. We booked the (Wooster) Rodeway Inn for the Explosion 14U. It had a beautiful pool, and was reasonably priced. ($50 per night) I would recommend this tournament to anyone. Reserve your tournament spot early...it fills up.

I guess if you consider "having fun" part of a quality tournament.... the Smokey Baker has been a joy for our younger teams in the past 3 years... particularly the DJ and dance for the girls during the first day. I will say the competition varies from year to year but we go there each year to have fun and the girls love it.

The Best of the Best will have an 18U showcase but allow 16U teams to enter at Genshaft Park on July 2nd - 4th.

We will also host a 12U and 14U Best of the Best in Massillon the same weekend at Community Park which is about 3-4 miles from Genshaft!

We will have information on our website by the end of the month! Go to www.eteamz.com/ohiowolfpack/

Jamie:

A Best of the Best for 14U is tempting indeed. Great to know that will be an option. Does Community Park, unlike Genshaft, allow dogs? Casey the Wonder Dog hates to miss any of the girls' games.

Fire in the Sky is the best in the NE Ohio area. Marion Merchants are right. It has grown in competition each year. I'm from the area. You have one of the best fireworks right after the championship game. Plus a carnival that's almost a week long. You also have the Smucker's store. Fastpitchdad had it right concerning the people watching. Orrvillle firefighters has done it right since its inception. You will not be disappointed.

I second, wait, 22nd, the Orrville Tournament. They'd be my pick. Too bad DD's too old to play there this year!:(

Orrville is a must. Took my team several years back and it was incredible. Told the girls we would probably take the 4th off in 2010 and the first thing they screamed to each other was "Great we can go to Orville for the fireworks!!!"

Ohio Wolfpack Best of the Best has traditionally been an 18u college showcase tournament, which 16u teams have been allowed (8 out of 24 earlier this month in the Fall Best of the Best). The plans are to add 12u & 14u divisions this coming summer (2010). Details are still being worked out. Tournament Information will be posted soon!
