Re: 10u Pool Game Scores

We were tied with Classics 1-1 with two outs after clock and we just couldn't get the last out. We walked a few and then gave up a solid hit. Congrats Classics, I enjoyed the game very much!!!

Nice game today Hawks, you played hard and it is easy to see that your team is well coached. Hope your third baseman is OK, I seen she was holding her hand after my catcher hit that ball hard down line at the end of the game. It was nice to finally get Riley back today, that was her first time throwing in a game since she broke her thumb in late May. She started out a little rusty, but they tell me she was back to hitting the low 50's during the game. Good luck tomorrow.

Congratulations to the Ohio ICE for the big win! You girls earned it!!!!!!! You hit the ball unmercifully from beginning to end and I was VERY impressed with your team. Don, it was nice to finally meet you this weekend and I'll see you again at the Chix-Cup next weekend.

Bretman - I wish I'd known that was you (as you are somewhat of a celebrity on OFC!)

Hey, interesting thing happened on Saturday evening I'd like your thoughts on. Runners on base - ball was pitched (no swing) catcher comes up out of the catchers box and walks a few steps IN FRONT OF THE PLATE to "take a look" at the runners. My batter steps out of the batters box and takes a practice swing. The plate umpire (pony tail) then "very passionately" tells my batter to keep a foot in the box. Being 3 feet away with no fence between us at that park I said, "blue - the catcher came out of the catchers box - my batter is allowed to step out of the batters box" Pony Tail then tells me (again passionately) IT'S MY RULE!!! IT'S ASA RULES - Very angrily as though I've never bothered to read the rules.

I have read the rules and I know all of the exceptions to "batter has to keep one foot in the box" There is a ton of them! Did I mishandle the situation. What could I have done to better point out that my batter had a right to step out of the box and he shouldn't be "passionately" telling her to keep a foot in. Why did the umpire feel the need to be a jerk about it???

I would just like to know so I can better approach a similar situation in the future.

Thanks,
Dan

What a great weekend of fastpitch. Saw a lot of great hitting, pitching and defense played in a LOT of games this weekend. Congrats to the ICE for a well played Championship game. Those girls can flat out hit the ball. A first class organization with parents to boot. Got to finally meet Sugar and boy was it fun to watch him cheer on his Stingrays. Just an overall wonderful experience of watching ball this weekend. There were a LOT of talented 10U girls playing this weekend. I am sure there are a bunch of girls all over Ohio today glad that school is out and THEY get to sleep in today as us parents had to DRAG ourselves to work today. :) But to see the fun they had this weekend and the memories that were created, makes it ALL worth it.
GREAT job to the Stingrays Organization for a very well run tournament and handling the rain Friday. Nothing like having the fields prepared before every single game. Just a wonderful weekend of fastpitch!!!
