Guess they didn't want to make the trip to Sioux Falls. Last year it went down at least 10 spots before there were any takers for 14U USA nationals. Probably the case this year too.

got it, makes sense...pretty sure Grand Slam is a 13u team....that might of weighed their decision.

Good luck to those that make the trip! start getting prepared now!! If you have to make changes to your schedule due to qualifying, play up in as many 16u/18u tournaments that you can so you can get used to the SPEED of the game that the southern/west coast teams bring.

We did turn the bid down. We decided before the season started to enter a regional national tournament this year. Great tournament, great teams, nice complex and fields, congrats to Lasers Orange.

Doug, The dentist was Dr. Tod Armbruster, who is the father of my short stop. He is a great softball dad, and a great person. I am glad that he could step and help, it's a testiment to the great people that we surround ourselves with.

My player wants to send him a card - PM me his info please... I had the best time talking to coaches in the hotel this weekend, you are right, there are so many great people involved with the sport, sometimes we let the 'bad' eggs bias us too much...

and then there are those parents whose kid hits 3 HR's in about 5 at bats and he keeps all the softballs for her (like I wouldn't ;) ) - leaving the teams / game with only 1 ball to play with - when the umpire asked where all the balls went I was cracking up ...... lol... ... right Freddy?!

Lol! They were not getting those balls back! The grand slam was the best! Her and Taylor were crushing the ball! Their homerun competition is going to be fun to watch! And you still have those people who go aroung and say they can't hit! As hard as you work those girls through "PRACTICE" it's paying off for the whole team!

When little Kendahl (5 ft) hit two balls last weekend right up to the fence I was shocked, she uses a 32/21 cf5 and both were 3 ft from going over.. crazy... it is contagious and fun to watch the girls rattle the fences...

Congrats to the Lasers Orange, really nice team. We had a battle with them in pool play, and they got us 3-2. We fell asleep on the old "fake a walk, advance the runners" trick, and it cost us.

Thank you...must admit I have (3)14's, (6)13's, & (2)12's this year. Five new faces from last years team and the girls are really starting to gel. Best of luck!

Congrats to the Rex and the Lasers. We were able to overcome the Wizards and Sliderz on Sunday morning, but fell to a very nice Grand Slam team 7-8 after leading the game 7-1 in the 4th inning. They kept putting up 1 or 2 runs an inning, and we seemed to take our foot off the pedal and it cost us dearly. We definitely need to improve our ability to finish off games!

It was a pretty somber team meeting after Sunday's loss, as we have now placed 3rd at 3 of 4 tournaments we have played in (Indy Premier Qualifier, Dayton/Metro, & ASA States). Hopefully we can break through that barrier in the coming weeks.

Kudos also goes out to the TD and umpires. Solid job all weekend.

Congrats to all the teams that won the berths, and also turned one down. Kevin - if you are going ASA Regional National, go to the Northerns rather than the Easterns - if you want more info, PM me.

Laser Orange - nice job - knew it would be this weekend for you.

Classics - I'm sure you'll break through pretty soon - just hope it's not against us.

Wizards Elite - hope to see you sometime before Sioux Falls.

Everyone else - good luck in the coming weeks.

Wish we could have been there!

Great job to you and your team, you are very polished and well coached. After our game, I used you as the example of what we aspire to be next year. We have 9-98's and 2-99's. We ran out of gas the last 2 innings, but thats what happens when you make a career out of the loser bracket (all day saturday). The Classics 14U are definately a class act in my book!

We went to Salem (Eastern) last year, and it was really awesome, the complex we played at was really top notch (bathrooms, fountains, and fans in every dugout), it was well run, and the umpires were good. I wouldnt hesitate to go back.

We were in Sterling last year and it was great also and they girls had a great time, just wondering if it is only the drive that is persuading people to go to Northerns or something else.
