Buckeye Heat Tryouts 2018/2019

The Buckeye Heat Fastpitch organization has been an active member of the fastpitch community since its founding in 1998 as the Worthington Heat. From a one team organization, we have grown to support teams at every age group from 10U through 23U. Our teams are based out of Central Ohio, but compete at venues throughout the state and nation. We believe that serious competitive fastpitch should be fun as well as educational, and try to select girls, families, and coaches that share that belief.

This year the Buckeye Heat will not be holding a large organizational tryout like in years past. We plan on doing several more geographical located tryouts where several age groups will come together. Over the next few weeks our coaches will post in this thread where their tryouts will take place and what their team needs, type of schedule and commitment they are expecting.

With 20 years experience as an organization, and well over 100 young athletes who have gone on to play at the collegiate level, the Buckeye Heat organization will help you reach your max potential and accomplish your goals.

Buckeye Heat 18u-McCleary will be looking for a few players. We are a team of 2019 grads that will be playing college softball after next summer. This fall we will focus on those players still uncommitted and prepare for 2019 school year by playing 3 Fall tournaments. Our focus in the summer of 2019 will be 4 tournaments with the intention of getting our players ready for college ball. We are looking for:

1. Pitcher-One that can share duties with our other pitchers.
2. Catcher- prefer one that can play other positions if needed. We have a #1 catcher.
3. Outfield- able to play all 3 outfield positions. Speed is a must.
4. Utility

We will hold our tryout on 8/2 at Ridgeview Middle School at 4241 Rudy Rd, Columbus, OH 43214, Field 7 from 6pm to 8pm and the on 8/4 at Shanahan Middle School at
814 Shanahan Road

Buckeye Heat 04, one of Ohio's premier organizations, is looking for serious players wanting to play at the next level. We are a 2nd year 14U team planning to play a showcase schedule, ASA, PGF and USA Select. Tournaments we are considering are Scenic City, Firecracker, Outlaws, etc.


Our current core of girls are experienced, hardworking and results oriented.


We offer experienced coaches , Coach Tim Villies and Coach Tony Bryant have been through the process and have helped their own daughters achieve their college goals. We know what it takes and how to get there. We have college players who will serve as part time assistants and we will practice at one of the finest facilities in Ohio.


If your daughter is a team player, has the desire, the work ethic and is looking for exposure, and if your family is willing to travel and support her then please consider Buckeye Heat 04. All positions are open and earned and with Buckeye Heat 04 it truly is "about the girls".

Tryouts for the Buckeye Heat '02 16U team have been set for the following dates and times:

Both tryouts will be held at the Utica High School Softball Field located at 344 South Main Street in Utica, Ohio. This is right across the street from the BP station.

Buckeye Heat 01 will be moving up to 18u next season. We have had great success through the years. Check out our webpage. With the majority of our team returning again, we are looking for 3-4 girls for next season. All positions will be considered with focus on middle infield type of athletes and an outfielder. The 14U Buckeye Heat - Yeater team is moving up to 16U next year with our current '03's and '04's. Looking to play a very competitive 16U schedule next year consisting of quality ASA and Showcase tournaments around Ohio. If you live in North Central Ohio and want to play college softball, this is your team!!! This team will practice year around in the North Central Ohio area and will be looking for girls with a strong softball commitment in the Richland, Crawford, Morrow, Marion, Delaware, Knox and surrounding counties. 14U Buckeye Heat - Sheets

Formally Black Swamp 04 Sheets will now be joining the Buckeye Heat organization as 14U Buckeye Heat - Sheets

We are looking for dedicated young ladies in the Seneca, Wyandot, Sandusky, Crawford, Richland, Marion, and Hancock county areas to join our core group of girls. All of our practices will be held in the Sycamore/Tiffin Ohio area.

We are primarily and all 04 team with a strong need for a number 1 catcher and some help in our pitching rotation. Other than that we are looking for any athlete that thinks she can contribute in any way.

We will play in Fall Tournaments as well as a couple indoor tournaments over the winter. Then we will play a 6 to 7 summer tournament schedule including Loudonville, Fire in the Sky, and Greg Miller with hopefully 1 out of state tournament.

Coach Tom and I have coached together for many years and are very excited to have an opportunity to join up with the Buckeye Heat organization.

Buckeye Heat '01 (18U) - Tryout Update

Buckeye Heat 01 is back from Nationals going 6-2 and finishing 9th.

For next season we are looking for 3-4 girls for next season. All positions will be considered with focus on a shortstop, other middle infield type of athletes and who can also play outfield. Someone who can also catch is desirable.
