Cincinnati Reds RBI has their own state of the art facility. The parents don't pay for use of the facility. The youth academy is funded by the Cincinnati Reds and the community fund. The players pay very little in player fees and almost all the money they collect is spent entirely on the kids. The reds provide free hitting and pitching lessons to their teams. Also offer sat and act prep classes and pay for the tests. The academy also has 3 or more college run clinics completely free every year.

Both, it's has a 150 ft square indoor playing field, 4 pitching and hitting cages, full gym to workout 4 classrooms. On the outside there is 4 fields. 1 dedicated for baseball only, one dedicated for softball, and two multi purpose fields. Three of them are astroturf. They run many free clinics for the general public. It is amazing and unfortunately under used. They have recruiting seminars and free recruiting videos. The Reds do everything the can do to get these girls and boys to college.

Rumor has it they roster a large amount of players on each team and not all players get asked to play each week.
This is a rumor I heard so take it for what it is. I don't have a daughter playing... was just told told this by a few players that have
either tried out or that has been on a rostered team. Not only that but they play in separate sanction.. (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) "Reds RBI." They compete with other
teams within their sanctioning... (Astros RBI, Rangers RBI, Chicago RBI)... they all compete against each other for a national event.
If this is all correct, maybe this is why they aren't as big a draw as one would think...
Maybe someone can clarify if its actually true or not...

I’ve seen them at local tourneys and they definitely carry large rosters (like 15). They have little/no fees to help attract kids who would otherwise not be able to afford to play.
Last year they had a successful older team, not sure if it was 18 or 23U, who they highlighted during Reds game broadcasts.

They aren't a draw yet for a number of reasons. First, people dont know about them and what they offer. They also started as a baseball program that has expanded to include softball and for a while honestly didnt have an understanding of travel softball and recruiting. That is starting to change at their 16 and 18u levels. They have mostly played local USSSA and minimal showcases. They do finish with RBI tournaments against other MLB RBI programs at the upper age groups. They have sent some players on to the college level. I personally think the program is great and see it continuing to grow. I do have a niece in the program and have had a few HS players on their teams.

To be nice, lets go with they have a unique way of doing things that prevents the best players from wanting to play for them.

Kinda like another organization here in Central Ohio... I will not speak their name. Beautiful facility though. It’s a Shame they just don’t care about Softball. Money money money. That’s all that matters. I could go in deep and give you my point of view on the Organization I am referring to as I have been part of it for a few years and dumped my hard work and efforts in trying to build something there but that’s a different post.

Stedman you must not have seen their 16 18u showcase team play. They have beaten many of the top programs in ohio over the last couple years. They play a lot of games out of state. The last two years they have gotten 16 players to the next level. Their current team is young but they have 4 girls on the team that have a legit shot of playing d1. Especially their left handed pitcher who is an absolute beast and is only 14. They are starting to get some of the top players.

Seen them play. Know how they operate. and to put it mildly, not super impressed. Could it have changed within last 2 seasons? Sure, but I'll make it a point to watch their team at Recruitfest in 7 days. And will report back.

How long had these players been in their program?
The REDS RBI did not develop these players...
This is just another organization taking credit on the hard work these players done before joining their team... unfortunately this happens a lot.
A player plays 1 season with a team then next thing you know their name is on their website being advertised as that team got them recruited.

They actually have a policy to give priority to athletes that have played with them in prior years. So they have developed players that have moved on to college. Not necessarily the D1 level. They have also helped develop players that have moved on to name organizations as they got older.

I believe this is only their 5th year in existence. Very hard to believe they have "developed" 16 players that have moved on to college.

I dont understand why people choose to trash an organization they know little or nothing about. Why cant we just be pleased these girls are getting a chance to keep playing. Every organization has players that have moved in for whatever reason. The Doom has them, the Hawks have them, the Outlaws have them, the Bandits definitely have them. Does it really matter in the end. A coach or organization should never get but hurt over a player moving on to another challenge or opportunity. They should be wishing the player well and continuing to help them if able. They should also be asking what they could have done to provide those players that left the opportunities they desired.

Not quite sure what this means? I don't see anyone mentioned being "but hurt" or anyone "trashing" an organization.
Someone had stated this organization had gotten 16 players on to college. This is the only statement that i see being questioned?

This happens all the time. Allot of organizations use this tool to "promote" their group. They post publicly about how many players from within their organizations have went on to
play at the next level when most of those players had spent very little with their organization. Bringing that to attention isn't being "but hurt" its stating facts.
Honestly, i don't know any of their players that would fit this discussion... all I know is they didn't develop the 16 players that was mentioned.

This thread was established to find out what teams had their own facility and what it cost to use them. I answered that question and promoted the youth academy. A underused facility in Southwest Ohio that is doing great work for kids. Most of the workers and all the team coaches do it for free. For some reason it caused an uproar amongst coaches on here. The question I want you to answer is why would this upset you? Also why haven't any other organization answered about their facilities. Maybe because they charge an arm and leg for their use.
I would like to clear up a few things about the organization and why they aren't one of the great teams in Ohio. First the RBI is not about wins and loses. If they win great. But, their mission is to get more girls involved in softball, to give underprivileged kids a chance to play the game at the travel level, and the most important is to get as many kids to college as the can. So when you look at their mission statement I would say they are one of the top organizations in Ohio.
Google 1, you are wrong about RBI being around 5 years. The academy has been around for just 6 years however the RBI has been around much longer. To address your question about their not being any RBI player you know who is going to college. I ask you, how many of the girls do you know to make yourself such the expert. lol. The next time you see Coach Davis of Mount Saint Joseph ask her how many girls on her team played RBI. I think you would be surprise to hear their are currently 7 girls playing for her. Plus I said 16 in the last two years. There have been many more then 16. The RBI teams have been very successful in the 16u and 18u age group. There showcase team is currently 6-2. That is a 75% win percentage. Sound pretty good to me. Plus 1 of the wins was against the team that just won USSSA Tennessee state championship. The team is currently ranked 10th in the state.
The reason why the RBI is thought to be a weak organization is because their younger teams don't win much. They do carry large teams however every girl suits up every week. Every girl get to play until they get to 16u then they have smaller teams. These large teams differently hurt them. But remember I said it's not about winning but about helping the girls

It is all about the girls. They need to learn and have fun at the same time. It is very beneficial to have their own facilities but as long as players are progressing isn't that what matters.

I forgot to report back on this after Recruitfest. Yes, the 18u team had a couple very good players. But, they are NOT a showcase team. They did do a very good job about rotating players into the game, etc.

Believe they were a 3 seed in their Pool and lost their 2nd bracket game.
