Anyone have concerns on DeWines press conference today in regards to upcoming tournaments?
Anyone want to "speculate" what he's going to say?
What's the over/under on when/if he shuts the state back down?

I feel he is going to make masks mandatory for all of Ohio. I am assuming tournaments will be the same. No masks required if you can maintain 6 feet while outside.

Does anyone listen anyway? I've been to numerous tournaments with basically no guidelines other than the balls going through the defensive team being followed. Just better hope it doesn't affect the facilities holding the tournaments.

I think we’ve be very fortunate that softball even being played. I don’t want to get into a debate on who right or wrong about this whole Covid-19 Illness.

I just talk with a friend and his wife has over 20 co-workers that are all sick with COVID-19.

Hopefully, he’s looking at hospitalizations-ICU admissions-death trends.

Hopefully, he’s looking at hospitalizations-ICU admissions-death trends.

It was reported 2 days ago that Dayton ICU's were at near capacity. I can't speak for any others cause I haven't heard. Another spike in local nursing / assisted living facilities was confirmed. Most of what I have heard seems to deal with careless behavior by indoor activity and/or businesses being sluggish about making employees glove and wear masks. He's going to shut us down again if people don't choose to do the right thing on their own.

This truly is an "It only takes one to ruin it for everyone" situation.

my opinion: the more you test the more positive results you get.

positive tests DO NOT mean people are sick but the MSM wants you and me to think it is the opposite. positive means death. NOT TRUE.
USA tests more than any other country in the world THUS the most positive results in the world. its pretty simple to understand until the MSM and demo rats twists the truth into something it isn't.

deaths are going down not up. there is no shortage of ventilators and hospitals are not over crowded with covid kungflu patients and a lot of the hospitals are taking on the non emergency surgeries and stuff like knee surgery hip replacements... all the things they stopped doing when China kung flu started because they thought they needed room for china kung flu patients.

I'm sorry, but I can't let this go without some kind of reply. COVID is a global health pandemic in which we are one of the only countries making it political. In every other softball forum I read, the moderators stop the political BS; they do not start it.

I agree that the number of cases is most dependent on the number of tests, however it is clear now that hospitalizations are starting to rise as well, and ICU's are starting to fill back up. Hopefully they can keep the fatalities down since the earlier flattening of the curve allowed time to learn more about the disease, start to develop a vaccine, and build the inventory of PPE, ventilators and ICU beds. I will look for the data, but I'm hearing that in some of the currently hard hit states, that cases are up like 80+% due to testing, but hospitalization are up like 200% ... and that is very concerning.

My concern with DeWine's conference is that he did not mandate masks, like a majority of the other states have down now. But I will say overall, I think he has done a better job with it than most governors and the federal government.

the problem is that all the numbers are not real. saw a motorcycle accident in Florida that killed a man... they labeled it Covid. There is A LOT of this going on. hospitals get kick backs on covid death so supposedly everybody dieing is more than likely marked covid death. How can anyone know the real mortality rate if all the numbers are screwed up in the 1st place. everything is hearsay and the truth is not being told.

There will always be stories of how someone cheated a system or made a mistake. Some are true and some are not. Too often, conclusions are drawn about all of the numbers and so they are all discarded. The fact of the matter is ICUs are starting up to fill up again with COVID patients, and most governors (obviously not all), Democratic and Republican, are recognizing the situation and taking some actions or at least holding press conferences to warn folks. Don’t take it serious and people will continue to die and we won’t get back to normal for a long long time.

death rates going steady down not up. positive cases going up because we tested more than 42 million so far ( next country has 14 million) and the more you test the more positive you get. We actually need to get this over sooner than later. bottom line its gonna happen slow or fast.
We can go slow and we shut down the entire economy and lay people off and no school and more crime more suicide more depression more domestic violence more deficit more stimulus money putting the future deeper and deeper in debt more bad stuff.
OR
We can go fast and protect the vulnerable, social distance mask up go to work, go to school, get businesses up and running, open retirement homes for family members to see loved ones, be smart wash hands get the economy back to the strongest it ever has been like it was pre covid.

we cant go back and forth. open up... shut down... open up shut down. And if you think none of this has to do with the election.... i would say think again. not all but a big part of what is going on today is because we have one of the biggest elections in history coming up.

before i went on the rant i wanted to ask coach. where can we find information that shows hospitals almost fill now with covid patients. I heard zero people on ventilators in Ohio. but is there a website with those such stats? that would be helpful.

There should be concern anytime he makes an announcement but what is more concerning than his troubled covid data, lawsuits and mandates is what he is not talking about....

Ohio as of June 1st opened up housing court with a backlog of 3 million cases set for eviction hearings. While that may be concerning, the pending mortgage crisis in Ohio from land lords and homeowners that have chosen deferments could exceed the 2008-2011 numbers. 14% Unemployment, 2 million filing for unemployment 1/3 still looking for help. Many Ohioans have lost primary or secondary sources of income in some cases both. Small business owners cannot catch a break and are struggling to get help. Governor Dewine is turning Ohio purple and loosing support from other republican elected officials. Householder and Seitz ripped him over his veto Friday on a bill capping penalties the health department can issue. Many other elected officials have came out against Dewines orders that were never run through proper protocols. He at times is his own worse enemy with his daily briefings, data that has flaws and screwed up PSAs...Hopefully he can get some help/better advisors to get Ohio back on track.

This guy has some good perspectives and data on his website...
