Cannot play 2 contests on the same day. Unless it the same team.

Well Ohio made it very clear today that this rule applies to all sports all venues etc...

I don't like it we played all summer with no issues. Why is this all of a sudden a thing? We are sending kids to the most unhealthy place to be, but they can't play in a tournament. This is getting out of hand.

Because the people at the top making the decisions aren't leaders, they are gutless followers. They don't base any of this latest nonsense on actual science or data, very similar to the moronic B1G University Presidents and B1G Commissioner Warren cancelling fall sports including OSU football, without any regard to the massive negative impact that stupid decision will have on a huge number of people's lives and their futures. It is absurd that we have elected these type of people to run OH and been appointed to run our universities. Their main reason is because there's too much "uncertainty". Well let's just all go and hide in the closet until we have a vaccine, even though the actual data shows basically an infinitesimal risk to the vast majority of the general population. Both are unbelievably short-sighted decisions based on fear and avoiding any risk at all cost, without apparently any consideration of a balance between the health risks of Covid19 vs the many negative impacts that will surely happen with this type of thinking..a complete disregard and/or comprehension of the true future costs these poor decisions are going to create.

I will say that after watching the press conference today of our nitwit Gov. Dewine( who I voted for) and his cohort in crime the Lt. Governor it appeared to me they will be open to changing the specifics of the newly created nonsense from ODH fairly quickly once the school year gets going and they see the cases aren't spiking...although that's me reading between the lines and I could be way off based on my hopeful interpretation of what I heard. Our team has six, possibly seven tournaments scheduled this fall with only one of them currently out of state in Indiana, but I'm guessing that may change if this doesn't get rectified in the near future. At that point I would guess we may be traveling to two or three more out-of-state tournaments and doing more friendly doubleheaders. The memo sent out by Berliner makes it sound like they will be very stringent ( probably because it's city of Columbus) although I'm not sure what tournaments they think they're going to have if teams can only play one team per day...there won't be any tournaments at Berliner if that's the case. That's the only thing I've seen so far from any tournament directors other than Marion with the the Best of the Midwest friendlies September 12-13. Apparently they're trying to maybe come up with a work-around by playing doubleheaders each day versus 1 other team, which I guess might work since it's only friendlies with a focus on college recruiting.

Do you need to wait 24 hours before playing another team, or could you play one team at the end of first 24 hour period and then play another team soon after at the beginning of the following 24 hr period? If the latter, you might be able to squeeze three 24 periods to fall within two days. This wouldn’t help a tournament, but maybe a friendly during a weekend against three teams would be possible. It’s sad that I’m even spending time thinking about this silly requirement.

Well we are about to see how the flu season cases and Covid cases collide. Flu season tracking starts in week 40 symptoms start to rise significantly in week 36-38. We are currently in week 35 of the year. I think it's going to be interesting to see how the two will mingle in the medical world and in schools. Will flu cases go down? Do people still get the flu shot? I'm really interested to see how they handle it. I know some schools have closed in the past due to flu outbreaks. Oh the crazy times we are in.

I don't think the wording is clear.. Reading the first part it seems like no tournaments, but at the end it sounds like they could be allowed. Why did they make this so difficult? How hard would it be to limit teams to just one team per day for "contact" sports???

not at all. it specifically mentions 'contest' for other sports as being prohibited and then furthers defines tourneys as not being 'contests'.

I don't see how it could be more clear that tournaments are not allowed under this order. Teams may play one "contest" per calendar day. "Contests" are what this order allows. It does not prohibit contests. It specifically says that contest does not mean round robins or multi game tournaments. Those things are expressly forbidden. Those are the things we want, and those are what it says we cannot have. No amount of wishful thinking can make that vague, unclear, ambiguous or assign it a meaning exactly opposite of what it says. Now, whether individual county health departments care what the order says is an entirely different matter.

I disagree. it defines what a contest is and says they are prohibited. Then it states that tournaments are not contests. That means that tourneys and round robins are approved.

Seems to be a requirement when you are dealing with a Government Agency then it has to be confusing

sounds like Berliner and Columbus Health Department are not accepting the new language as a green light for tournaments... more work to do boys and girls!
