The region 2 Ohio WV team finished the event as national runners up. There were 24 teams from across the country competing. We had 2 pool games, played an exhibition game in Hall of Fame Stadium and then played 4 elimination games on Sunday to go up against a Texas team from region 5 that had some incredible players. Game ended at 1:45 a.m. Unfortunately we lost 4 to 3 but kids and families had a great experience playing in the OKC Hall of Fame stadium. This was an example of all the good things softball offers to kids and their families when we is more important than me.

I am so proud of what these girls did in OKC. It normally takes time to for a team to jell and they did it in 5 days. So coachable and bought into the mind game. They listened intently to the message Sue Enquest shared and were willing to do everything our coaching staff asked them to do mentally and physically. They were eager to learn and fought hard. It was so much fun coaching them. The parents were awesome and we had a great time on the bus. We represented OH and WV well.

USA Softball did a great job of putting on an awesome event. Sheilah Gulas and Nikki Nuzum did a wonderful job helping coach. Thanks to USA softball of Ohio and WV for helping us put a great team together. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience for the athletes and their families. They got a taste of what playing in the WCWS would be like. We were able to win because the kids bought into TWC Together We Can! And they demonstrated belief and trust in themselves and each other.

It is amazing what teams can do when no one cares who gets the credit. Parents and kids were all in for the experience and it resulted in achieving more than what was anticipated. Great time, great experience, and great representation on a national level for Ohio and WV.

We had several clinics and tryouts throughout last year starting in November at several locations in Ohio and WV. We invited the best kids from those tryouts to a final tryout in May.
Narrowed the team down to 15 athletes.

What was so tremendous about this team is that these kids were eager to learn and had no ego. They were willing to do whatever we asked them including playing positions they had never played before. We only had 4 practices prior to playing yet had great team chemistry due to our 15 hour bus ride and the team building and mental training activities we did with them. The parents were super supportive and those that rode the bus said they would do it again without question. Its hard to explain the transition that these kids made in such a short time yet it was visible on the field. We challenged them at the first practice telling them we wanted to be the most confident team there. Sue Enquest talked at the opening ceremonies about playing with confidence 1 pitch at a time, which is what we had already emphasized. They bought in and came together in an incredible way. The entire event is life changing for these kids and I am glad that Sheilah Gulas, Nikki Nuzum, and I were able to share it with their families. USA Softball did a great job and USA Softball of Ohio and WV were very helpful with the clinics and tryouts. Thanks to all who helped us along the way! Can't wait to start planning for next year.

It was a shame this wasn't held in August like it was the previous year, but understand why it was. Congrats to the players and coaches on the success and hard work.
