Clarke University's softball team closed out the home portion of its 2019 slate Wednesday night with a Heart of America Athletic Conference split with William Penn University. Brie Tauber (SR/Dubuque, Iowa) scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to give Coach Garland Shirley's squad a 2-1 win in the nightcap. The Statesmen took the wild opener, plating three runs in the ninth for an 11-8 win.

For the first time since starting the program in 2014-2015, the Softball program has qualified for the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs split a double header with LSU-A to capture a spot in the conference tournament. The final seeding for the tournament will be determined after the games this weekend when Jarvis travels to Southwest for a 3 game series.

The Lady Bulldogs captured the win against LSU-A by a score of 8-0 in game two. Daisy Gallegos would earn the win for the bulldogs and Elisa Casas would notch 4 rbi's on the day. Naomi Mata would go 2-3 at the plate with 2 rbi's and 1 run scored. Graciella Becerra hit the game winning rbi to give the Bulldogs the 8 run rule after 5 innings of play. Becerra would go 3 for 3 in the game with 2 rbi's and 2 runs scored.
