Wicked '09 played in the DES-Central State event in Lancaster, OH this past weekend. Saw some really good teams, finishing the weekend 2-3 and tying for 3rd place. Girls fought hard and showed they can compete when they play smart and together. Glad everyone is back on the dirt and getting back to some type of "normal". Congrats to the teams and coaches that brought home some hardware this weekend.

L 2-11 vs OH Outlaws 9U Futures
W 11-2 vs Cincy Shock

OH USSSA PRIDE Red '09 played in the USSSA Central States Qualifier in Lancaster, OH and finished as runner up after a 6-5 Championship game loss against Ohio Outlaws '10. Congrats to Mike Homan who has a really talented young team and were able to score two against us in the bottom of the 7th to pull out the win. It was a fun, exciting, Championship game where both teams made terrific defensive plays (which I geek out about more than anything).

Results from this weekend:

Pool Play
W 2-1 vs. Wicked '09
W 10-2 vs. Cincy Shock
L 4-2 vs. Ohio Outlaws '10

Bracket Play
W 18-1 vs. Central Ohio Pride
W 5-4 vs. Ohio Storm '10
L 6-5 vs. Ohio Outlaws '10

We play at the USA State Tournament next weekend which includes several top-10 teams.

I would like to congratulate Beverly Bandits and Ohio Outlaws 09 for competing at PGF Nationals and representing Ohio well. Great job Outlaws 2010 and Wolfpack 09 for winning their event of the weekend. I’m sure I missed a few teams also, but it’s hard keeping up with all the tournaments going on.
OhioEmeralds’09 was scheduled to play at Cedar Point but with the park closed we backed out a week or so ago. We put together a solid 6-team tourney that included Racers’09, Spikes10u, Cobras’09, Mentor 10u and SilverCreek Prospects 9u. OhioEmeralds’09 were happy to play well enough to go 4-0 and win the championship game vs a very solid Racers’09 team. Our bats were on fire all weekend out scoring our opponents 49-5. This week we will head to Lancaster, Oh to play against our usual top ranked opponents at “ASA 10u State tournament.”

Record: 41-16-2. **played 32 games against ranked teams**

Beverly Bandits 0-2
Ohio Outlaws 09 0-1
Ice Purple 0-1
Thunder Elite 0-1
stingrays09 0-3
Wolfpack’09 0-2-1

Outlaws ‘10 1-0
Phantoms 4-1
Ussssa Pride 1-0
Ohio Storm 09 3-0

-Past Weekend-
PGF SUPER SELECT 4th Place 7-2 -- 35 teams
I will say it again, that the talent is rich in the 09 class in Ohio. It is not a secret that I lost half my powerhouse 9U team to our friendly in-state rival Ohio Outlaws Johnson 09 this past year. Congratulations to them on a fantastic run beating some of the top teams in the nation and a t0p 10 finish out of 35 GRADE A teams. I have maintained a great relationship with the Ohio Outlaws Head Coach Kobe Johnson and Assistant Coach Jason Lewis and still cheer on the girls who I helped grow. Coach Kobe and staff has helped mold that team into a nationwide contender and it makes me feel good that I had a part in that as I look out and see the entire infield as former Bandits. NO way am I down playing what he has done because he has grown and developed those girls more than I would have, I was just happy to plant that seed and introduce them and the parents to what real travel ball looks like. It was great to see one of my former players come through in a comeback victory in the Winners Bracket with a great shot down RF line. My daughter has gone into enemy territory and subbed in multiple times for the Outlaws and the team and coaching staff has been nothing but awesome. Some may view that action as a Benedict Arnold move, but that's where the world of travel softball can be so petty especially at the 10U/12U level. I love the passion of the parents, the learning curve of the athletes, and the excitement it brings to the game. But the bad-mouthing of teams and the young players has to stop. Don't be an that parent who sits in the cheering section of an opposing team and cheers loudly against another team/talks smack about players, or that person cussing up a storm about a play or a girl who made an error while donning your teams spirit wear. I am by far, nowhere from perfect, but you will always see me complementing the other team, giving opposing players a high five, or congrats on a great play when my offensive team has just completed their at-bat. I hear a lot of parents and parents do the same, but I really need to hear more of it, instead of these bitter "parents" who walk around talking crap, stirring the pot, and creating rumors. Lastly I try to never talk softball in front of my daughters if I have a concern or complaint. These tiny ears are listening and hear everything..... This is a generalized statement/rant and does not pertain to any team at all.

I love my team. 10 of the 12 are local with an hour to hour and a half from each other, and the other two out-of-state players were added after I had assembled the team by the organization and have fit perfectly into our team concept and philosophy. These girls put in a ton of work and all get along. My girls played absolutely great this weekend, and we were without one of our flamethrowers for all of bracket play. They played great ball at times and sometimes not-so-great, but I am extremely proud of them and look forward to competing nationwide again at PGF Nationals at the end of the season. Look some of these teams up on Gamechanger... unbelievable and the entire tournament was filled with the same.

9u Ohio Outlaws '10 - Homan

First off want to congratulate both Matt Bailey with Bandits '09 team and Kobe Johnson with the Outlaws '09 team. Both teams and coaches played exceptionally well over the weekend at the TN Super Select and represented our state of Ohio very well, congrats coaches. Congrats to everyone else who played and won their respective tournaments... win or lose, it feels great just to see teams out here competing again given the circumstances everyone has been through during this crazy year of 2020!

The 9u Outlaws '10 team played in the USSSA State South Tournament in Lancaster, OH over the weekend. We went 6-0 winning in the Championship against a good USSSA Pride Red team. The Championship was a very exciting, nail biter for both teams. Great defensive work by both teams and both pitchers threw well. Congrats to Coach Barnett with the Pride team, that was a fun game! It was good to see my young team keep fighting through the final game being down 1 run headed into the bottom of the 7th.

Scores from the weekend:

Outlaws '10 17 - Cincy Shock 1
Outlaws '10 11 - Wicked 10u 2
Outlaws '10 4 - USSSA Pride Red '09 2
Outlaws '10 7 - Aftershock 10u 2
Outlaws '10 4 - Wicked 10u 3 (ITB)
Outlaws '10 6 - USSSA Pride Red '09 - 5

We will be at the USA State Tournament this weekend in Lancaster, OH. Good Luck to everyone this weekend!

Ohio Outlaws 09

First I would like to follow up on what Coach Matt Bailey said, softball in Ohio is very strong and I believe these Southern teams are starting to realize that. We were in Columbia, TN this past weekend at the biggest 10U event of the year. We challenged our girls with the best 35 teams in the country and I have to say my girls battled with them. We went 3-3 and our 3 losses came to teams that finished in the Top-10 of the event. Congratulations to Coach Matt and his Bandits team who fought all day in the losers bracket on Sunday to a 4th place finish. That was an impressive run! Congrats to the teams who stayed back here in Ohio and won some hardware as well!

Stingrays 09 had another solid weekend going 5-0 and won the SGS Toledo tuneup. Team is currently on an 11 game win streak and currently sits at 23-7 on the year. Next weekend we will play in the USA State tourney in Lancaster. Tons of talent statewide in the 09 class, as proven by the Bandits and Outlaws last weekend down south. This Stingrays team is really starting to come together and trust the process and each other. Fun group to coach and they love to compete!
