PGF SUPER SELECT 4th Place 7-2 -- 35 teams
I will say it again, that the talent is rich in the 09 class in Ohio. It is not a secret that I lost half my powerhouse 9U team to our friendly in-state rival Ohio Outlaws Johnson 09 this past year. Congratulations to them on a fantastic run beating some of the top teams in the nation and a t0p 10 finish out of 35 GRADE A teams. I have maintained a great relationship with the Ohio Outlaws Head Coach Kobe Johnson and Assistant Coach Jason Lewis and still cheer on the girls who I helped grow. Coach Kobe and staff has helped mold that team into a nationwide contender and it makes me feel good that I had a part in that as I look out and see the entire infield as former Bandits. NO way am I down playing what he has done because he has grown and developed those girls more than I would have, I was just happy to plant that seed and introduce them and the parents to what real travel ball looks like. It was great to see one of my former players come through in a comeback victory in the Winners Bracket with a great shot down RF line. My daughter has gone into enemy territory and subbed in multiple times for the Outlaws and the team and coaching staff has been nothing but awesome. Some may view that action as a Benedict Arnold move, but that's where the world of travel softball can be so petty especially at the 10U/12U level. I love the passion of the parents, the learning curve of the athletes, and the excitement it brings to the game. But the bad-mouthing of teams and the young players has to stop. Don't be an that parent who sits in the cheering section of an opposing team and cheers loudly against another team/talks smack about players, or that person cussing up a storm about a play or a girl who made an error while donning your teams spirit wear. I am by far, nowhere from perfect, but you will always see me complementing the other team, giving opposing players a high five, or congrats on a great play when my offensive team has just completed their at-bat. I hear a lot of parents and parents do the same, but I really need to hear more of it, instead of these bitter "parents" who walk around talking crap, stirring the pot, and creating rumors. Lastly I try to never talk softball in front of my daughters if I have a concern or complaint. These tiny ears are listening and hear everything..... This is a generalized statement/rant and does not pertain to any team at all.
I love my team. 10 of the 12 are local with an hour to hour and a half from each other, and the other two out-of-state players were added after I had assembled the team by the organization and have fit perfectly into our team concept and philosophy. These girls put in a ton of work and all get along. My girls played absolutely great this weekend, and we were without one of our flamethrowers for all of bracket play. They played great ball at times and sometimes not-so-great, but I am extremely proud of them and look forward to competing nationwide again at PGF Nationals at the end of the season. Look some of these teams up on Gamechanger... unbelievable and the entire tournament was filled with the same.
