10u Coaches' Poll Week #1 (5-9-11)

Right now it seems more like a popularity contest, which will sort itself out in a couple of weeks after the weather lets some tournaments get played. There were a couple dup teams listed and one team that isnt even a team. Not the fault of the person posting the data. He is just a collector of the data. I for one do not want the person collecting the data editing what they receive.

The data is only as good as what is received. I do think that the people should explain why they are ranking the team, ie record of the weeks games. There are teams on this list that lost several games or have not played in any noteworthy tournaments yet.

Not sure how many of your kids moved up vs. returning from last year but from what I remember about your team last year I would not be surprised if they are a legit #1.

Static 10u this year is veeery young, mostly with a bunch of 9's and 3 8u's... funny how these things work out....

Jeff, I certianly was just busting your chops. I know you will simply add up the votes and report what was turned in. As for snooping around in 10u I still like to keep an eye on the younger teams especially yours. We had some great times, great battles last year and knew you would come back this year with another strong club. Best of luck, look forward to catching up with you at Stingrays this year!

Not taking it personall. And. It states NEO Ice Orange #1. That is merely my opinion based on what has been seen so for. And I was clear to say . Not to take anything away from any other team. So really. Who is taking it personall? Who ever you are. You are obviously trying to make it personall. Oh. NEO means North East Ohio.

If you think Ice Orange is #1 then have your MANAGER vote for them! Not an ASSISTANT who really doesn't matter anyways!

My my . . . I'm thinking there are many Manager/Head Coaches on OFC who will read this and cringe at the thought that Assistant Coaches might believe they don't matter and should therefore look for different pursuits. As for who votes, it can't necessarily be assumed that an Assistant Coach sending in the poll ballot doesn't have the blessing of the Manager on the specific votes. (Head Coach has full information when I've voted in our age-group poll). And even if the Manager is blissfully unaware of the actual votes, I would guess in most cases the staffs are pretty much on the same page with respect to the quality of their competition.

As has been stated many times on OFC before, there is a learning curve for parents and by at least 14U you don't see as much of this stuff.

That being said...Keep an eye on the Wizards-Gold out of NWO. They are very loaded in the circle and are capable of beating anybody. I know they will be at ASA-states, that will be their time to see how they stack up.

You are taking it personal, that's who! I am glad you know what NEO stands for because you really don't know what the polls stand for. It is a poll that is done for fun, it really doesn't mean a whole lot, unless the team you are representing isn't ranked, then you can complain as you did , or try to explain why certain teams are ranked and yours is not. Get over yourself! The polls will change weekly, it kind of gives everyone something to shoot for, but really this is all for fun! Let us just try to have fun with this and not try to make excuses for the rankings.

HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!!! Are you telling me that the 10U's are not playing for the Championship of the Entire World, which, if they win, will bring them world fame and fortune??? That is not what I signed my DD up for. I signed her up so that she can wrap up a full-ride college scholarship by the end of this season. I also signed her up so that she could see her name in the paper, or her face on TV, every week. I am spending a lot of money on this particular travel organization and for you to say that it is not a good team, ranking wise, is an insult to my team selection abilities. And just think how my DD will feel when she looks at these polls and sees that her team isn't even ranked!!! How could her parents have put her on such an awful team. She will not be able to ever face her friends again!!!

Alright, listen up!!! These polls are for fun!!! Go with the flow. When you get to 16U, you will see just how silly these polls were in the first place.

The old saying...you can tell what age level is playing based on the number of parents sitting behind the backstop.

by 18U in most games parents dont even know the score, just who is winning and losing. All the petty little inter-team player/parent rivalries are gone and is replaced with dads talking about their new lawn mowers, grills or golf clubs and Mom's talking about how they got their husbands a new lawn mover, grill or golf clubs to get him out of her hair. 90% of the players left playing get it and are playing because they love playing.

All that being said, CGS, WV etc., have all been through it once or twice so we get it, but I think we need to cut these excitied 10U parents a break and let them learn on their own...They will become the 16U/18U parents giving advice to a new group of 10's parents in just a few years

Hey CGS and Uber well have to get together and take in a few of these games in our "off" time this year sounds like thyre going to be exciting! I dont remember 10U being so cutthroat in my day. Hopefully you guys remember its about these girls, training them correctly and teaching them positive apects of the game and parts of their lives. Healthy competition is great between the players and sometime between the coaches..lol. But I must add i hate when someone lurks in the shadows and throws barbs at peoples, coaches, or players while hiding behind a screen name like (extremist)! Dude c'mon if you want to stir things up go ahead but let everyone know who you are and what team your with so everyone can come and see your team play as well.
