Central Ohio Lady Vipers 03 went 5-1 and finished fifth at the Stingrays tournament over the weekend.

Won - Vipers 6 Michigan Finesse 5
Won - Vipers 8 Stingrays 04 3
Won - Vipers 2 PA Strikers 1
Won - Vipers 6 Beverly Bandits Futures 5
Won - Vipers 6 Turnin2 5

lost - Vipers 5 Outlaws 6

We had runners on second and third with no outs in the last inning and could not get a run to tie it. I am happy for Coach Tom and his team. It was a really strong field this weekend. Every game was a battle. We took down some big teams from out of state. We play in GAPSS this week before heading to Nationals. Overall record is 61-21-1.

Wizards elite 03 had a good time at the Stingrays Invitational. Great to see all those top teams coming together and battling it out. We showed a little rust after taking some time off after States, but the girls competed and played well. Hats off to Dr. Tom for the outstanding weekend his Outlaws had and to the SunDogs for another big tourney championship. Ohio represented well.

Pool Play
Lost vs. Beverly Bandits Futures 0-5
Won vs. Storm 03 3-2
Won vs. Kaukauna Ghosts (WI) 4-0
Tie vs. Finesse 1-1

Bracket Play
Won vs. Wolfpack Roby 3-0
Lost vs. Outlaws 1-6

We have one tourney left (Wizards Wind Down) before heading to ASA/USA Nationals in Salem, VA. We look forward to the Ohio teams showing well down there.

As we reflect back on our last year of softball, it is amazing what our girls have worked so hard to accomplish. We have challenged them by playing the best competition in the Midwest week in and week out and they rose to the challenge. With extremely high expectations it is often easy to overlook the fact that these are young women playing the game they love while building lifelong friendships. It is also easy to focus on the what could have been rather than celebrate what did happen. The Wizards elite 03 coaches are beyond proud of these girls for their development as players and their accomplishments as a team.

In the past year, we have finished as:

Champions –
Diamond Chix Pumpkin Smash
Spano Dome 12U ENQ
Compuware Showcase
ASA States

Runners Up
Fall Classic ASA National Qualifier
Wizards Rising Starz ENQ

Notable
3[SUP]rd[/SUP] place USSSA Softball Zone Futures Invitational
3[SUP]rd[/SUP] place RVBY ASA National Qualifier

Hurricanes 03 went undefeated at the Cinderella classic this past weekend.

Wins in pool play against Ohio Attack, Pitt passion, and Explosive Black

Bracket wins Vs Bombers, Wolfpack 04, Lighting gold, and Championship win 11-1 vs Pitt Passion.

Its been a really fun season! The girls have forged some great relationships with the other teams. Seemed like we played a few teams a number of times and the were world series every time. Its been a roller coaster at times and as the kids grow up they are learning from the experiences. 12U has been a blast! Cant wait to see what the 02's have in store at 14U!

We are all traveling to Ocean City Maryland for the USSSA world series. Looks like we may get over 100 teams. We are the only Ohio team listed so far and should see some great teams from the east coast. Lets see if all those close games paid off! Looking to represent Ohio deep into the event.

Good luck to everyone at nationals or wherever the season winds up!

Caines 03.. Out.......

Ohio Outlaws '03 went 7-1 at Stingrays this weekend and ended up as the runner-up.

POOL:
W 2-0 vs. WV Dusters
W 6-5 vs. MI Bulldogs
W 4-2 vs. Cincy Slammers
W 4-0 vs. SunDogs Williams

BRACKET:
W 6-1 vs. Wizards Elite
W 6-5 vs. Vipers
W 5-4 vs. Cincy Slammers

CHAMPIONSHIP:
L 2-5 vs. SunDogs Williams

We had a fantastic time at Stingrays and cannot say enough about how well-run this tournament is and what it meant to our girls to perform up to their capabilities in this event. We consider this to be THE premier tournament in the state of Ohio. SunDogs played outstanding in brackets and when we had an opportunity to face each other for the second time in the championship game they were 3 runs better. Great team, great bunch of kids in that program! Congrats to Keenan and Scott.

Looking back at our season we knew this was a very strong group of girls and they really did play extremely tough in the fall/winter. We performed very well at the 14u age group and also did very well playing out-of-state during that time. As we rolled into the more local portion of our schedule we faced some internal issues that were tough to manage as coaches and saw some under performing for a period of time this year. Thankfully we ended well and managed to play strong enough at the right times this season to see the following:

Flo-softball #31 ranked 12u team
Top-10 OFC 12u poll team all season
Ohio top-10 wins against: SunDogs Williams, Hurricanes, Slammers x 2, Wizards Elite, Vipers
Stingrays runner up

Thanks everyone for a great summer of Ohio softball. I truly appreciate how competitive, yet supportive most every coach is towards the competing programs... just makes all of us better! Look forward to seeing many of you again over the fall/winter months and best of luck to ALL of the programs as they represent OH at nationals!

Ohio Blast '03 was runner-up at the Gahanna Invitational, losing in the championship to the best team we have faced this season in the Flamin' Fury out of West Virginia (made up of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky girls). According to their coach, they have only three losses all season and have played some of the best teams in Ohio. We will close out our season next week at the Liberty Firefighters Blazing Bats.

Our season includes 3 championships, 2 runners up and a 5th place finish at Lasers.

SunDogs 03 had a blast winning Stingrays this weekend! Ist in our pool with wins over Turnin2, Indy's Most Wanted and Stingrays. Lost the crossover against the Outlaws. Bracket wins over Kaukauna Ghosts, Beverly Bandits, Team PA and Outlaws (Championship).
In all games we scored 53 runs and gave up 14.
We had no idea what to expect as this was a really strong field of teams. This was an event our kids will always be able to look back on and be proud of. As mentioned Stingrays put on a top notch 1st class tournament thanks to them and all their efforts.
Outlaws have really kicked it up and are a tough opponent for anyone right now. Congats to them on their terrific weekend!

Ohio Stingrays04 want to thank all the parents, coaches, and volunteers who made this Stingrays tournament great once again. What great weather we had for the event also!! Our 04 squad competed well and gave it their all, but ran out of gas in the end.

STINGRAYS SHOWCASE RESULT 2-3
Pool Play
Lost vs PA Strikers03 4-3
Lost vs Central Ohio Vipers03 8-3
Won vs Finesse Wojcik03 7-6
Won vs. Kaukauna Ghosts 12U (WI) 6-2

Bracket Play
Lost vs Indy Most Wanted03 7-2

Every other year will be a tough fight against this strong 03 class. With that being said, i'm not sad at all to see those guys move up next year, haha. Our 04 squad didn't shy away from the big tournaments this year and we strongly believe that it will make us stronger next year and we are going to need it -- take a look at our schedule next year -- ( http://www.thesoftballzone.com/showthread.php?9218-Ohio-Stingrays04 )

We played against the TOP 10 multiple times this year. We played Sundogs03 L10-2, Vipers03 L8-3, Slammers03 L7-0, Wizards L8-1, Wolfpack03 twice L6-4, L8-0, Outlaws03 twice L5-1, W9-4 and most of those games was close late. Also had solid wins vs Indy Dreams03, Starz03, Classics03, and Lightning Gold. All of these teams are rock solid, and we wish the 03class well as you moved up to 14U this Fall.

We, respectively, are 63-25-2 this year as an 11U squad. We have 1 tremendous 03 player that we are sad to see age out. She has been a team leader both on and off the field. We have been very fortunate to keep around 7-8 girls every since our inaugural year 9U year and looking to retain again. We are traveling to Panama City Beach next week for the USFA-Mizuno World Series. We will meet up with some teams that we saw during last years ASA/USA tournament. Looking forward to representing Ohio down in FLORIDA!! Good Luck to all the teams heading to Nationals!

I just want to cast a vote for Kaukauna Ghosts - no idea about their skill level, but sure like the name!

Wolfpack 04 competed in the Cinderella Classic this past weekend.
W - Lightning Blue 11-1
W - Warhawks 14-3
W- Thunder Elite 03 5-3
W-Rebels Heat 11 - 1
L - Hurricanes 5-1 (This is the largest run differential by any team we have played this year)

Overall record this year is 54-13. Wolfpack 04 is a young team who has competed and beat a good number of the top 10 teams listed. The only loss to an 04 team this year was in a close game to the Indiana Dreams. We have two more tournaments and will finish in Columbus. Our girls are looking forward to one more year of 12U and will do so with a very competitive schedule.
