Lasers Orange finished tied for 3rd at the 5 Alarm Classic going 5-2 on the weekend. Our only two losses were to the final two teams playing, Thunder Elite in pool play and Outlaws-Williams in the semi finals. Congrats to Thunder Elite on the championship. We made our semifinal game vs Outlaws interesting, down 0-4 going into the last inning then scored 3 runs and left the tying run on base. In pool play we lost to Thunder Elite and had the tying run on second base and the TE centerfielder made a full extension gorgeous diving catch to end the game. The 5 Alarm Classic was one of the best ran tournaments we have been to. Organized, field crews were awesome, and beautiful park. I highly recommend. I cant wait for the Fire in the Sky next year.

We will be heading south to Panama City Beach, Florida to the USFA World Series this weekend to get some sand in our toes and to defend our World Series championship from the last time we were down there. These girls (and families) are ready for some beach time.

We attended 5-Alarm fastpitch in Orrville, Ohio this past weekend. This was a great local tournament for us and one we attend again next year! The competition was stiff and the ball was great, so many great plays, teams and players giving all they had! Congrats to Thunder Elite for winning, Lasers O and Black, cobras08 and others for running hot on the fields!
OE09 finished the event 3-1 winning our pool as the #1 seed but running into a solid Team Pa team in round #1 that made every play and found every hole! I’m happy with the overall results with a 3-1 record that this event.
Next weekend we are off, before tackling a tough schedule at Stingrays, consisting of Finesse Hool, Hawks Hutchinson, Outlaws Masielo and Thunder Elite!

 

[Lasers Black 09]

The Lasers Black 09 had another exciting run this weekend going 4-3 and finishing T3 at the 5 Alarm tournament in Orrville.

The team got off to a good start in pool play, defeating the Cobras 08 3-1. Unfortunately in the next 2 games, the team and our bats came out flat, which costed us both games.

Sunday 8am we arrived for bracket play as the bottom seed from our pool. Right before we took the field, one of our catchers /#4 hitter became ill and ended up going home for the day. Our girls stepped up, reeled off 3 straight wins before eventually losing in the semifinals 4-1 to the Tournament Champion Thunder Elite 08 Vogan. That was our first time getting to face that team all season. What a great well coached team!

The team will be off next weekend for some much needed rest. Next up is the Stingrays tournament.

Off this past weekend, but had a good run with a T5 finish at the PGF Mojo Music City tournament the weekend before that. Played a heck of a lot of games more than I ever had played before this season, but love being on the field with my team. Our two Ohio losses are to Ohio Storm in Mt. Vernon, everyone knows location matters on that, and also to Ohio Rebels 08 who put a 4 spot up on us in the top of the inning of a non-revert back drop dead friendly where we didn't get a chance to respond, so I say we fared pretty well this year in the State. Good Luck to everyone in their season ending preparations and retaining/recruiting season. Worst time for a head coach as there are definitely some difficult decisions.

Cobras 08 this spring/summer overall record is 35-8. 7 tournaments played.

Tournament #7 was by far my favorite, 5 Alarm Classic. I had time to watch Lasers Orange, Stingrays, Thunder Elite Vogan (or should I say Outlaws), and Wolfpack play games in between my games. Best of the best right there. I did not get to watch Hawks Hutch (but from a far seen a bomb while I was coaching 3rd) Outlaws Williams, Finesse Munoz, or OH Storm which I wanted to. I also got to give a shout out to Lasers Black for their Sunday run and to OH Emeralds 09 and 08, and Lady Rebels for their overall weekend. It was a great atmosphere to be in with great teams. We ended up 3-3 on the weekend.

Tournament #6 was Fathers Day Blast. We lost in quarter finals to Team PA Pezzuolo 2-1. 3-0 in pool play and 2 Sunday wins before losing to Team PA.

Tournament # 5 was the Willoughby Starzz Invitational. We were flat and we lost in semi finals to Erie Frost who went on to win championship. No excuses, we lost and did not produce. Ready for Ohio Blast Fathers Day tournament this weekend in Canfield and 5 Alarm Classic the following in Orville.
