6/26-6/28 – ASA States

Wizards Elite 03 had a fun, wet, much shorter than expected weekend in Columbus for ASA States. We started off hitting the snot out of the ball against the Rallycats. Our rematch vrs. the Outlaws 02 was a marathon of down pouring rain with two long delays. They did a much better job than we did “weathering” the storm and finishing strong to give us the loss. That put us in a very tough first round matchup with the Vipers 02. What a great game with both teams playing at a very high level throughout. Vipers 02 kept their focus after being held scoreless through four innings to absolutely blister the ball bottom of 5[SUP]th[/SUP] to come away with a 5-3 win.

A number of our kids from the 11U Canies team stayed and watched this Lasers team. The Lasers white team played one heck of a game against a VERY solid 16U team. The lasers have two very solid pitchers (at least from the two we saw) and their fielding is solid. On offense they absolutely crush the ball. The most dominating part of the game was just how fast they were on the bases. Its amazing to see girls who are 12U eligible compete at this level. Was disappointed we did not get to see them play the rest of the weekend.

Erie Diamonds Red went up to Victor NY for the Vipers Nest Summer Slam Invitational and went 2-1 in a rain soaked weekend.

L vs Revenge-Fitzsimmons 4-2 solid defensive team, CF made an unbelievable play in bottom of 7th that would have been a 3 run home run

To get back on the mound after a direct hit to the mask ( bending and knocking it off her face ) what a stud ! If I have to lose a game after going head to head tied 3-3 until the last at bat with 2 outs and girl bombs one over for a 2 run hr and game over! I'll take that every time !
