12U Coaches' Poll - Week Ending 5/02/10

Not sure who put the poll together.... as one of my pitchers mothers commented earlier we beat at least three of the top ten teams in this list that we have faced. Shows how skewed this poll really is.... As the 11U coach stated a lot of teams that aren't listed will be in the top 10 at the end of the season..... Possibly a bit premature ?. I feel the poll will have no problem repairing itself a bit, or bunch, by the end of the year. I would like to wish ALL of the teams in the State of Ohio good luck this season and we hope for some great competition. Please don't mistake my comment for the teams listed (quality teams) that I look forward to facing. Again good luck and happy hunting to every team out there that will be playing in our State as well as the Surrounding States.

Amen! Can't wait for the season to get in high gear...

Our USA/ASA Tourney on Memorial weekend will have most of the top 12u teams ... and I might be able to get a team or 2 more in... a bid straight to the Nationals is at stake.

plus its all about the name the org has set for themself as being a top org in the age group, reputation goes along way and until they dont meet that high standard certain teams will remain at the top every year in the pre season polls.

pre season polls help to show strengh of an organization over a few seasons.

It is all us uber-competitive 2009-10u teams moving up to 12u and continuing our battles here... lol!

They do not make it up to Central Ohio all that often, but I think you HAVE to put the Buckeye Elite in this discussion - Solid pitching, lots of power up and down the lineup, and very good coaching. If we see them again it will be to soon.

shhhhhh , just let these scioto co girls fly under the radar MD ( I guess they don't have a press secretary like the Ol Wild thangs had )

No Grand Slam? I think they have already won a few tournies this year beating one of the top 3 teams, Good luck to Kevin and the girls they will be tough. Also keep an eye on the Diamond Chix team.

Thanks Spirit12U! Those of us in the Northern half of Ohio know that North Coast Spirit and Grand Slam are two team that definitely will be going deep into Sunday's! DD's 12U Diamond Chix blue team is looking pretty good so far (their first tourney is at the end of the Month)....aaah love this time of year;)

Ahhh... What the heck did we all do with our free time in the winter? There are so many great 12U teams this year - It is going to be fun watching our "little 12's" make the transition. I say we just leave it up to the BCS computers to decide - It always seems to do a great job ;&

Wow.............that took a while. There are several teams missing from the poll. Dragons 97, Hawks 97, Classics 98, Stingrays 97, etc., all very deserving. I think once more coaches get involved in the voting and the season actually gets rolling, we will see a more accurate picture. It's a little early yet, I would give it until after Memorial Day.

By the way, you did beat us (Classics) in pool play, then we beat you (eliminating you) at the Crush Fall Tournament. Both were very good games. Tim did a nice job putting your team together. I am sure we will have many great games in the future. But I understand where your coming from, you have a fine team.

BamBam......... shhhhhhhhhh, we (97 Hawks) are flying under the radar this year to surprise some folks on the dirt... ;&

I truely believe that the 12u this year and the age groups coming behind in the future will all be very deep as the knowledge and talent pools continues to grow and develop. The coaches are woring together more sharing some knowledge and the girls and parents are starting to realize that to play at a top level its a year round sport now. Where I live in Northern Ky. The local high school haa won 19 state titles in football a big reason is most if not all of the players only play football and they train year round on it.

I'm with you on that one, It is going to be very intersting over the next few weeks. All the 12u teams are going to have to step up and prove how good they are. I for one have respect for all teams listed and will not underestimate any! You better be ready to bring it.................

I have to say fps1597, you bring up a very good point. A lot of people thought 12u would be a little down this year, but I think we are looking at a very deep pool of teams here in Ohio. It's early, but there are a lot of very good 12u teams out there this year. I think you are right about the future as well, the talent pool continues to grow. I am amazed, for example, at how many girls are taking up pitching and how many parents are buying in to the committment a pitcher must make to succeed.

if you dont think talent level is steadily improving in ohio you are crazy we go to a division 2 school and my dd is in 7th grade and we have not seen a bad pitcher all year everyone has been solid pitching with a couple outstanding ones.has been good for dd because she has seen travel pitching for the most part.and the number of girls in this little league that are bringing heat 8th grade girl 60 plus 7th grade girl 60 plus another around 55 and a sixth grader who might break 60 mark before she is a seventh grader it is crazy
