I really like when we get an in depth report like the one CGS gave on the Buckeye Heat 95 and it's opponents at Stingrays this weekend. CGS don't worry...lol...the BH 95 deserve to be in the top ten both as a team and by the way they played the competition the past month. Compuware, GAPSS and Stingrays...I beleive?

The Stingrays are not the same team they were a couple of weeks ago and I mean that in a very positive way. When you have the opportunity to add a couple of stud hitters into the 4&5 spots of your lineup, your opportunity for big innings increase, as was shown in the 2 championship games 9-5 and 7-1, which by the way shoud've been 7-2...lol. ?;)

The Cincy Doom 95 also had another solid weekend, with a couple of solid wins against a tough Team Indiana 7-2 and 4-0, and a great 2-1 win against the Stingrays before running out of gas in the Championship games.

On a side note, I was sitting with 3 of the older Stingray coaches (14, 16 & 18U) as they were watching the final 2 games of the 12U. After about a half dozen circus catches by both teams outfielders and numerous plays by the infielders, they commented that they had never seen such plays by 12 year olds before. Now these coaches have been running the Stingrays tournament for at least the past 7 years that I know of, so I take that as very high praise comming from them!!!

Anyway, I've seen the Ohio Ice play against the Buckeye Heat 95 and Indy Dreams up at Compuware and they too are deserving of one of the top spots in the polls. Very solid pitcher and from a technique standpoint some very solid hitters.

The Lasers Gold travel as well as any team in the state to all the big tourneys and are one of the top 5 teams as well. I've seen them at Stingrays, Columbus NSA and playing up at 14U in the Whitehall tourney, and competing quite well in every game I might add. They are by far the top 11U team in the state and they have a chance to do big things ala the Slammers if they work hard in the off season.

The Lasers Silver are also one of the top 5 teams that I have seen this year. They have a great pitcher and catcher combination that would rival any other at the 12U level!!!

Seen the Ohio Classics at the Columbus NSA, Whitehall and Stingrays tourney and they are just a level below what I call the Big 5 in this age group, but are still worthy of a top 10 spot.

Have not seen the Valley Extream White, as they do not leave the Northeast corner of the state.

The Ohio Emeralds Black are also a very solid team that reminds me a lot of the Ohio Classics team. I had the opportunity to see them early in the season and again up at Compuwre.

Anyway, good luck to all Ohio teams and I look forward to seeing all the above mentioned teams at NSA Nationals down in Columbus next week!!!

Just a quick question...are all the top teams planning on being at NSA "A" Nationals next week? If so good luck to all 12U Ohio teams, and let's show the eastern part of the country where the best FASTPITCH is!!!

Bink,
The teams that I think are going to NSA are:
Stingrays-Caton
Lady Lasers Gold
Lady Lasers Silver
Classics
Ohio Ice
Lady Dragons-Pink
Lady Dragons-Black
Cincy Doom 95
Wild Thangs

There are a bunch more from Ohio, but that is all I can remember. And of course the NSA WS website has been down all morning.

Ohio Classics 12U did a fantastic job at the Stingrays tourney considering they were without 2 of their players. They picked up only one extra for that tourney.

Great job Classics! ;)

Static
Diamond Dogs
HOH
Lasers Gold
Lasers Silver
Dynamite
OFC Heat Blast

Yep, Buckeye Heat '95 is going to visit Mickey for the USSSA world series. JoeA and the girls cooked this up before he went to the left coast to coach Division III. Actually, we think this is a great idea. Soon enough we'll be pressing these girls to qualify for ASA nationals, go to Colorado, etc. etc., so going to Orlando is pretty much a one shot opportunity. [Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Joe took what is now the 18U Abraham Buckeye Heat team down there when they were young]. Most of the crew is staying at the same resort hotel and I'm sure there will be tons of stories to be told upon our return. Should be fun and a great bonding opportunity. We have not been able to find any listing of the teams that will be attending, so we have no idea how the competition will stack up.

CGS, not sure about giving Danger a vote. They mix different players week in week out. It seems they never really have the same team. One thing I can say for some of the teams is that they play each weekend with the same players thats why this team poll is a bunch of horse crap. Don't mean to put a damper on anything but None of these votes matter a bit. ITs no different than Dreams and Thunder coming together last year to go win ASA's. They had to mix to do it and piss a bunch of parents off. As much credit as everyone gives the Stingrays org. My goodness they should be good they are like Vultures picking up different girls every other weekend somewhat dismantling other teams. Where did the girls that used to play for the Stingrays end up after they lost their playing time to the three or four new girls that they picked up since before NSA state?

wow highandtight you must know allot of inside info to be making such statements.I had no idea catton had a posse going out in the middle of the night scouring the country sides finding fast pitch players asleep gagging them and forcing there parents to concede into letting them play ball at some pretty high level tournys (ya know like the asa states and stingrays INVITATIONAL) last i heard no coaches or parents were injured from kicking and screaming plyers.Furthermore if my dd and (if you were being honest) your dd if you have one playing were asked to play in one of those tournys you and i both would accept, like most ppl on here.

highandtight:

Your post has a lot of different thoughts packed into it:

1. That the votes in the poll don't matter. I thoroughly agree and I don't think any of the voters believe any concrete changes in the Ohio fastpitch world will result from the polls.

2. That the team poll is a bunch of horse crap. For the reasons that others have articulated, I can't agree. It's fun and it raises awareness of the different organizations around the state.

3. That the Danger team varies its players from week to week. You may be right, but all I have to go on is the four times that we have played them. I made notes from the first tournament in which we played them and I believe that substantially the same girls were there for the GAPSS tournament, though the line-up order had changed quite a bit, which is to be expected.

4. That picking up girls mid-season from other teams raises some significant questions. I too wonder about the girls who either leave the team because they know their PT will be substantially cut as a result of the newcomers or because they've actually been asked to leave. I have no specific knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the Stingray personnel changes, however, so I really can't comment on that particular situation.

Well lilronny, ;) I just call'em like I see'em. I would probably ask for some money back if my daughter lost playing time midseason to 3 or 4 new additions to an established team which btw has already played 7 or 8 tourneys. Thing is, I gotta believe these additions are being asked by current coaches of these teams. Which means if they find a girl midseason thats better than yours, tuff luck little lady without saying it.

highandtight - you are making statements about an organization and its situation without knowing all of the facts. ?I suggest you leave this one alone.

highandtight, you should seek all sources of info before posting fasle info. I know for a fact that the Ohio Danger team has had a player with a knee injury that happened at the USFA state qualifier who was out for a couple of tournaments and was losing a catcher to fair before heading off to nationals so picked one up from the younger Danger team to fill her shoes before heading off to Panama.....their roster has stayed exactly the same! Give them the credit they deserve!!!!
