The Ohio State softball team will host the 14[SUP]th[/SUP] Annual Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic on October 4-5 at Fred Beekman Park located on the Ohio State campus. The event, which the Buckeyes have hosted since the 2001 campaign, has become one of the largest fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in central Ohio.
A total of 20 college softball teams will represent Ohio in an event which has raised over $185,000 in the past 13 years for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Of the 20 teams, 17 of them will be representing Ohio, including Ohio State, Bowling Green, Ashland, Dayton, Kent State, Miami, Ohio, Wright State, Rio Grande, Urbana, Capital, Ohio Dominican, University of Northwest Ohio, Ursuline, Toledo, Denison, and Ohio Valley. Three schools are traveling to the Buckeye state: Eastern Michigan, Northern Kentucky, and Hillsdale.
On Saturday 15 games will be played on Fields #1-4 at 10:30 am, 12:45 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:15 pm. On Sunday 8 games will be played on Fields #1-4 at 9:30 am and 11:45 am. The Buckeyes play Eastern Michigan at 12:45 pm on Saturday and Bowling Green at 11:45 am on Sunday, both on Field #1. The full schedule is available here: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools...-15/misc_non_event/charityclassicschedule.pdf
Entrance to the OCCC is a $5 donation with all proceeds benefiting the Stefanie Spielman Fund. Fred Beekman Park is located west of State Route 315 at Lane Avenue. This is a perfect opportunity to see collegiate teams tuning up in the fall while supporting a very worthy cause!
