Coop it was a pleasure meeting you and shameless is what I called you!

Hard sometimes to have a picture in your mind of what some OFC people look like when they let their fingers talk for them.

I was thinking you would be a cross between Wgman and Dice...I was correct! Larry, Curly and Moe:yahoo:

On another note we were surprised Bouldersdad would not sign autographs even though we had a table set up next to Crystl's. His daughter thought it was because he forgot to bring his cut off sleeve shirt.

Thank you to everyone who attended the clinic's.

Crystl and I were talking on the way home and she is amazed at how involved some of the parents are in their daughters hitting and how to help them.

I think her telling everyone how important it is laying the foundation to hitting may becoming more understood and it is not just swinging a bat that makes you a better hitter.

The "little one" really amazed her doing the Barry Bonds drill and at least enough people witnessed it happening so it will not become an urban legion or myth. The drill actually had a lot of parents talking about understanding why their daughters can not hit the slower pitchers and recognize what they can actually use a batting cage for...timing and rhythm not batting practice.

Walking around during the throwing 101 session was interesting as many THOUGHT their daughter knew how to throw until they had to demonstrate it and then afterwards saw the results and improvements when they flexed the knee and finished properly!

Kirk great job by you and the parents as many people do not know what it takes to put on one of these clinics. We use a lot more toys, devices etc than most as we have found it helps the kids see it, feel it and fix it and everything is hand made.

Hopefully using the WhipHit was received as a tool to improve your swing and being more consistent as to the path of the hands and hitting the ball with the sweet part of the bat.

Also Kirk thank you and the Ice for the sander...it was a surprise!

To all the lemmings...thank you for traveling up or down in some cases to helping us as it is a pleasure to know and work with all of you and to our new lemming Lance welcome!

Carrie and Marcia thank you for helping me out personally during the healing process...it made it much easier for me to get around.

Thanks also to Al Dilz for donating the Swing Speed Radar units....many of you parents could see the value of using it and the three things we pointed out as to flexed knee at toe touch, grip, and slotting of the back elbow with a good first move by being connected could do for bat speed and what laying the foundation does for the hitter! It was interesting to see the girls go from 54 to 56 MPH and then to 68 to 70 MPH wasn't it!

Thanks from Crystl and Howard

Kirk and the Central Ohio Ice, thanks for taking such good care of us this past weekend! You guys are great to work with. Since my softball skills are non-existent I get the pleasure of spending time with Crystl and Howard and watching all the girls enjoy meeting and working with them. Nothing better than the look on the girls face when they finally get it! Tell Lil' L I hope her hand is okay and note to her self...sweat pants do not make for a good 1st base. Also, tell Liz that Crystl was still talking about her this morning. She told everyone here about her when we got back to the house. Tell her Crystl is planning on watching her play at 16U and wants to see how much she improves.

Only complaint I have on the whole weekend is not getting Tim to sign an autograph and do a picture. I just can't believe he wouldn't trust me not to let it fall into the wrong hands.

Howard,
What can we say about you other than WOW!! Always a pleasure to help you out and as always wish I could do more.

You'll have to take a look at the flier for the NM camp-even they list you as Crystl's hitting instructor. You are gaining notice across the country. Watching you work through the pain and discomfort just makes me realize more and more how much you give and how little you ask in return. I think I can speak for Carrie also when I say we are both more than willing to help out at anytime and any place! Thanks for everything.

BTW...Kayla said to tell you she is working on the hat! lol

Howard and Crystl........ Please come back soon, I am in the dog house now with my daughter!! She couldn't make it this weekend so I told her all about the coaches clinic and the throwing clinic afterwards. I even bought a t shirt for her and this is what she said. " Dad , thanks for the shirt but you didn't even get it signed for me!" Now she wants me to take her to see the RACERS first game. I told her I did come home with something for her from Howard & Crystl, A way to improve in her batting that no one else knew how to explain. Thank You!! Oh, I did promise her she will be going to your clinics next time... But I am still in the dog house.

Get the shirt to me and I will get it signed as we are doing a clinic in New Mexico at the end of the month....no problem!

We will also be at River Shores May 22 for the annual Busto's Blast either way YOU will get it signed.

Howard and Crystl,

Thanks so much for all of the valuable instruction and tools for my DD (11 yr old). She loved both the fielding and hitting. She was a little intimidated by Crystl at first but then relaxed and thought it was pretty cool that she was sporting Crystl's hairdo without even knowing it!

I wasn't there for the hitting instruction, but her dad watched and learned. She came home and said, "They made it sooo easy" She has a lot more confidence in her batting now. She can't wait to get to the cage tomorrow and try it out.

She bragged all day today about meeting an Oympic champion! This was a great camp and money well spent. Dan is going to continue to work with her now that she has the basics down.
Thanks again!

Geez, I didn't realize we had two of these threads going. I'm going to repeat my post from the other thread because the little one sure blew me away:

OK, she really should have her own separate thread but that precious little ten year old charged my coaching batteries for at LEAST another year. Talented, eager to learn, cute as a button and wonderfully innocent. She probably won't want to know six years from now that she scampered into the cage after Crystl hit a first bucket, held her hand up for a high five, and said "Good job, Crystl".

In all seriousness, I told her after the clinic that I knew Ted and I would be telling people over the next eight years "yeah, we got to see her when she was only ten".

THANK YOU so much to Howard and Crystl. Ted and I hope we now qualify as at least junior lemmings and we are available if the senior lemmings don't have enough numbers to man any given clinic.

My turn.

First & foremost, thanks to Howard & Crystl. Your love of the game is a model by which we should all follow. Whether it was Howard taking time to help make some hand path devices for the clinic, or Crystl spending some extra time on Friday evening talking to a player about leadership, they both go the extra mile time & time again.

Also, thank you to Marcia Wyrick and her willingness to be the main point of contact during the clinic planning stages & for selling the clinic shirts.

As I said at the clinic on Sunday, thanks to the Tom (Bustos Ultimates), Tim (MV Express), Shayne (Mid Ohio Lady Bullets), Lance (Ohio Ice), Dan (Lexington HS), Bob, & Pete for donating their time to come to Westerville & help with the clinic. Let me know, & I'll return the favor.

Thanks to Westerville Central for stepping up to hold the clinic when things at Otterbein fell through at the last minute.

Lastly, thank you for the players & parents for attending the clinic. Without you, the good word that Crystl & Howard preach would all be for naught. We hope the clinic will increase the chances of reaching your potential.

Kirk & the Central Ohio Ice organization

PS. Lynsey Meeks (Lynz) had the time of her life. Hats off to her dad Tim & Coach Sean Kilbane of the Westerville Warcats organization for putting in the extra time to take what I learned from Howard & Crystl to further assist Lynz to get the swing down at such an early age. We started this when she was only 8!

PSS. Marcia/Howard/Crystl - Jess did end up breaking the scaphoid bone in her right wrist with that fall she took while the advanced session was going on. She got casted yesterday & is looking at working her throwing & back hand drills for the next 6 weeks. A bit of a bummer, but we will strive to make a positive out of it. She needs to work on her throwing.

Kirk:

We hope Jess will keep her spirits up. Maybe when she is gunning throws this summer she'll think "hey, there was a reason for that injury and it was to allow me to get those fundamentals cemented before travel season." Between now and then, however, has to be hard.

Thanks again for all your work on the clinic and for your contribution to the Lynsey Meeks show, something I'll never forget!

Kirk-
Tell Lil' L we are thinking of her!! Kayla did that last year and it can be a VERY LONG couple weeks. Let us know how she is progressing.

Tell her and Lynz I'm keeping my eye on them! (Inside joke they will understand) Cant wait to see them play this year.

Have her use the WhipHit and just keep the other hand in contact by touching the good hand and her hand path will be improving the entire time as we have done this with our other kids. When the cast comes off her swing will be there!

We have done this with shoulder surgery kids also as there is no vibration to sting the hands as the rope eliminates it completely.
