Sorry! On a positive note. Congrats to the finalists Ice Black and Grand Slam. Both very good teams.
As a first year coach I will keep comments to myself but it was a 4 gg. Do we get money back if we only played 3?
That's typically what happens. SoCal ASA gives teams 24 hours to accept or decline a berth so they have time to pass down declined berths to teams that wants them.If the team that wins their bracket turn down the bid, does the 2nd place team get awarded that bid?
Agreed, the drop dead revert back rule is a joke, especially in elimination rounds. We rallied to tie the game, watching our girls get all excited over the come back only to see them crushed when the other team came to bat and the game ended and reverted back to before we tied it. Trying to explain it to them and seeing the disbelief and disappointment on their faces really ****ed and yes the field was open after the game "ended". We will not play in another tournament using this rule again.
YesI did see Warren Jones at this tournament, does TD have to get the ok from commissioner to make these changes?
ASA Code covers this in a few places. All of their regulations are finish the inning (aka no new). However, Article 308 Levels of Championship Play gives local associations (e.g. Ohio ASA) a lot of flexibility for their tournaments. Did Warren ever make Ohio ASA's rules available? And this was an ASA/USA qualifier???
I'm not so sure that ASA would approve of TD's taking liberties like this...especially in elimination rounds. You typically only encounter "reverting back" in winter indoor leagues at most.
We typically see it in friendlies, showcases and pool play where ties are allowed.
I think I would be questioning whoever happened to be representing ASA at this event for some sort of decision on this before those games are played.
In case someone hasn't seen the thread on the missing bownet I will post agian here. Between 10:00am and 11:00am Sunday someone "mistakenly" walked off with my bownet... The very bownet my daughters got me for my birthday.. If you have it or know someone who happened to "come across one" Sunday I would like to have it back.
Thanks,
Dave.
what fields? were there any identifying markings on the net? maybe someone left theirs and got yours in error, they all look the same.
I recommend marking your stuff with your cell phone number so people can contact you directly and while you're still around the fields. This applies to nets, buckets, bags, gloves, chairs, EZ-Ups, coolers, golf clubs...The back 2 fields at volunteer park. Unfortunately there's no identifying marks on it. I looked around and didn't see another one around.
