I will be coaching a 10u team this summer and was curious as to what kind of pitching we will see. What teams have some of the better pitchers, how fast are they pitching, and what is an average speed for 10u pitchers? Just wanting to know for my own knowledge.

Wv in the past the average speed is 44-48 mph with great control. I know for a fact there are a few 10u pitchers this year that will hit the 50-52mph. That is absolute smoke at 35 feet. The 2/3 teams that have pitchers I know that will be throwing smoke are the Storm 02, ice orange and sun dogs. I'm sure there this is others but this is who I have seen so far. This should be a very competitive year and I am looking forward to it!

Depends on who you ask..... Parents response - My daughter has 8 pitches and throws 55-60... Translation - My daughter has two pitches that she can throw for strikes and averages mid 40's... The reality - Low to mid 40's for your lower level teams and mid to upper 40's for your better ones. You may see some that sniff 50 but not too often. I'm not saying they aren't out there but not too common.

I talked to the 10u coach from last year and he pretty much said the same thing. It is good to know what teams to look out for. We will be in the Gplex tournament with ice orange so that will be interesting. I am looking forward to it too, should be fun!

WVexpress I second what jcr042 said. If your playing with the Ice you are going to make it deep into a lot of tournaments. You guys will defintiely be facing some 50mph+ pitchers this year. I would also add the Vipers to the list of top teams. I am not sure if their pitcher hits 50+ or not, but if it is the same one we faced in the fall she is close and very tough! That whole team is tough and very well-coached, so need to bring your A game against them for sure! Really looking forward to seeing you guys in the Gplex. Best of luck to you.
