All teams will play 1 bracket game on Friday night - starting at 3:30-5pm first games. We will be playing into the evening, start 8am Saturday - 7pm last games, and Sunday 8am - 6pm last games for most ages.

Thank you very much!

Question for everyone...

Every year we run into issues with schools extending their school year due to snow days and teams being short on players due to HS playoff softball.

We were thinking of changing the format next year to a 2 game set of games that are not pool play, but rather Showcase games (we do have a good number of college coaches attend on Friday and Saturday) that will allow the teams to move players around, get everyone on the field, etc but not worry about pool results. We would have the ASA Commissioner conduct a blind draw of the actual bracket which would start late on Friday - after 3pm at the earliest. We would only ensure that teams from the same org do not compete against each other in their 1st bracket game, other than that it would fall as drawn.

Done in advance it would allow all teams/players to know exactly when all their initial games are scheduled and be able to send out invites to colleges for their Showcase games and first bracket game.

Thoughts????

This has been a issue since we started this tournament, teams should know by now what you should expect when you enter. What makes this a unique tourney is its not run like your usual showcase tournament format, its more competitive since the pool games count. You also could have teams skip the "showcase " games and just show up for the bracket which in my opinion would ruin the tournament.

Nobody likes to play more ball than myself. I say leave it as it is and if teams have to pull out due to High School tournament then that is great for them. Refund them their money and keep your tournament going. There are not that many teams that have to pull out due to this cause.

I lean that way ... it is working why change it.. Bower called me yesterday and we talked about it... just keep improving it and leave the format alone was his suggestion...

Yes, the Dayton Commissioner would have to approve. There are NQ formats with PP, No PP - straight draw to Championship bracket - double or triple elimination. Nothing says there has to be any pool play... in fact several years ago, PP on NQ's was the exception.

2 and BBQ back in the day, lose 2 in double elim, go home and BBQ the rest of the weekend. Can you imagine paying the fees today for only 2 games guaranteed?

If I had your money Hitter23 I would look for 2gg and fill my schedule with them. I don't know who has more, you or Doug.

Had an 18u team pull out due to HS playoffs - If there is an 18u team that wants in - I need to know by noon tomorrow. We will be wrapping up all brakets and pool play - for all teams tomorrow night. Coaches check emails for copy of the rules...

What about the other 6 or 7 girls on the Team that want to play in the Tournament? If your missing 4 girls I get it, Its not like you're missing 1 or 2. Its a big problem for the Tournament Director. I Have dealt with this problem the last 2 Years in our 18U and it is a scheduling nightmare. Pulling out 1 to 2 weeks before a Tournament creates a lot of problems for everyone that is involved, That includes the teams that were suppose to play them in pool play.

I agree with you Davemy except for this tournament and others on this weekend. All TD's and coaches know that things are going to happen last minute because of high school tournament. Doug has done a good job filling schedule and making changes at the last minute as well as refunding teams money that had to pull out because of this. You have a very valid point though, except for June 5th - 7th weekend.

Thanks Paul - we refunded 90% their money - we have had 4 teams pull out in the past week, 2 last night - it is part of the deal with this weekend - as long as everyone is patient the schedule gets done in time ... I have to rework the pools slightly - and build the brackets on-line today/tonight ... once they are done, if a team pulls we will forfeit their games and try to get 'fill-in' games for the teams affected. I don't expect that to happen although last year an 18u team pulled out Thursday on us.

If anyone is camping and/or coming in Thursday night at Kettering - we will be doing last minute touch ups like standing fences - feel free to come watch ;) - or lend a hand LOL... free beer provided...

I just emailed the Rules and some notes - PLEASE signup and have parents sign up for TEXT UPDATES - makes it all go much smoother... If anyone sees anything in the rules that we need to look at please reach out to me ASAP.

Still hoping to pick up an 18u team....

Coaches - Please PRINT the rules and bring with you to the event. Makes it easy on everyone, and saves paper - every year we throw away 1/2 the copies after the tourney. We will reference copies on hand as needed - but please print or have avail on your cell if needed.

Also - Action Sports Facility is privately owned - 14u is playing there - they do not allow coolers on premise, grills, etc. Players may of course bring a personal water bottle, etc, but please respect that they do not allow coolers or tail gating.

EACH LOCATION will have registration tent - please check in prior to your first game.

Tournament Tees will only be sold at the Kettering Location – we did a big pre-order – those will be on hand at Kettering as well for pick up bundled by team – please send a parent/coach to Kettering to get your team Pre-Order Tee shirts any time after noon on Friday.

Be out there from about noon until dark.... !!

If it looks like rain is certain over the Fri/Sat - we will probably have Shorty draw the blind brackets just in case - would like to have you there - I'll text you if it looks like we should do that on Thursday as a backup...

Is there an online link to show what time teams are playing their 2 bracket games? I scrolled through this thread and didn't see one, although I could have missed it. I'm coming in from out of town and need to know what time my DD is playing on Friday.

Thanks...
