We never received a email or Placement list? How can you place a team during pool play for first place ? Then ask teams if they want to play next weekend but give the trophies away to the top seed in pool play the weekend before? I was never asked about playing next weekend. You would think if you were going to ask all the coaches if they wanted to play next weekend you would at least ask all the coaches first and get a replay from them before giving a trophy away! I can first hand tell you that you missed this coach on your email list. I have check may Junk mail and no email, maybe it was a honest mistake but you would at least think you would wait for all the coaches to replay.

What team are you? The same email I sent with the schedules is the same email I sent with updates? and after about 1 hour, I had 23 responses that people could not come next weekend.. I still have all the emails, and can forward all of them to you.

Brent,

We were one the teams affected by the cancellation. This is NOT your fault for what happen today. Overall, the cancellation was THEIR call because the fields are privately owned/operated and PARK felt they were not playable. I felt a 2hour delay would have at least give us chance to see what happens was reasonable considering the distances some of the teams were traveling. But I guess the park didn't see it that way. I also called the hotline Saturday night and 6:00am Sunday it said: all Sunday games Oct 7th for baseball and softball are cancelled. I think I'm seeing a trend there...LOL. My team had a blast (we played our 3 pool play games) and we will back next year......Just move it back down the road again. And as far as the trophies are concerned, if our team didn't win it... I wouldn't want it.

Thanks,
Jason

We played only one (1) pool game at 5:00 pm on Saturday. Obviously we are bummed out but completely understand the decision. Those fields take water decently but with the rain overnight no way could those fields be ready. No fault of the Chix. Just reimburse according to your guidelines. As for Victory Park don't write it off for a Fall tourney. All the fields at one facility and all of the fields with good lighting make it a smart location. They have lots of issues there and have never dug out of debt but since it starts getting dark at 6:30pm in the fall Victory Park is a decent option (of course I wish it were in better shape, maybe someday it will be).

I would like to see all the pool game results though. Chix can you list them somewhere?

My only complaint is a constant one I have had for years. Not at related to the Chix but how tournaments are often set up (and this one also).

Why not take the teams that you know are going to be solid and put them all in the sane pools? Basically put the 1-4 seeds in one pool, 5-8 in the next and so on. Granted it is a bit of guess work but it really works out great for the teams. You get 3 solid games for your team before brackets. And since the seeds get spread out all through the brackets it tends to all work out.

I know we went 3-0 in pool and outscored our opponents 34-3 or something like that(12U). Our #1 pitcher threw 2 innings. We would have much rather played 3 tight games win or lose. And I know we were in the same hotel as Team PA and they felt the same way. We both would have preferred playing each other in pool.

Just a general rant. I know that when you have a rain delay and take the top 2 to brackets you will get a "complaint" saying top teams should be separated....no perfect way to do it. Rain ruined a great Sunday. Lots of really good 12U teams on site. Was looking forward to some epic Fall games.

As far as your tournament set up ,a lot of teams (excluding yours I believe)were probably were just assembled or had just added players ,so maybe your team and tean penn should play before the tourney and send the winner so you don't have to bother with those lesser teams ,Impressed w your record and run count,,glad you had to mention it,We all wish we could have had a chance to send your team home, but not this time,Not a native of Ohio but is this why ohioans don't like Michigan, just having fun with your post good luck Go Bucks!!!

SIGH......

Actually, our team is made up of girls from 6-7 different teams so we are "newly formed". We are just an old 12U. Nothing special and if you took it as bragging you are completely missing the point. I have been on both ends of the talent pool and at either end I prefer to have tight pool games. And after 7 years of travel the younger team in age group rarely can compete with the older half of the age group. But it is good for both to meet once in a while. Not trying to be an elitist. I just like tight games.

We want back to the field at about 11:15 and there were huge puddles all over each field, there is no way we could have played. I went back to get my pumpkin and it was gone!!! All the others were sitting there except for a couple of teams I know that were going back for theirs, but my pumpkin was gone... I was a bit disappointed.

Yours must have been pretty cool.

I saw one that looked like a teddy bear.....some amazing work done by many teams.

Your Buckeye quote stung me....LOL

Had high hopes for my Spartans this year and they have pooped the bed. It is only half way and I am not enjoying watching them this year. Gonna have to resort to being a Buckeye fan and ND fan the rest of the year. Buckeyes because I guarantee I hate MI football more than you guys down there and ND because I am Catholic and well they may not be great but could sneak in a 12-0 season. Of course, they will get smacked by the SEC in bowl game but getting there is still half the battle.

It was unfortunate the tournament was cancelled, especially traveling from WPA. With that said, I thought it was the right call. We were lucky enough to play 3 games on Saturday although playing at 8 a.m and 36 degree weather, my girls may say different - LOL. We really liked the complex & hope to come back next year. As others mentioned, it was unfortunate the Sunday bracket play was cancelled because there was some quality teams in this tourney and there are still a lot of unanswered questions on where these teams stack up. Nonetheless, over the next 8 months I am sure most teams will meet up again. Best of luck & hopefully I will see some of you in WPA & Ohio this summer too.

On a side note, I thought Ice Black had the best pumpkin - very creative - our girls loved it.

I will make sure I pass the message on to our Ice team about people liking our pumpkin. You can be sure that I personally can't take any credit for anything so creative and well done!

Everything went pretty well on Saturday for our team, and I have no doubt it rained a lot there on Saturday evening/Sunday morning, but I'm just not personally a fan of this park (at least yet) and would agree with others that Chix should consider other venues for the future. We played in a tourney there early in the summer and perhaps I'm not noticing things (wouldn't be the first time), but are any improvements actually being made? Are $ being put into it? Are they eventually going to finish the concession area and put in permanent restrooms? It seemed like it was in the same state as it was 4 1/2 months ago.

We had our Spring Shootout Tournament at this park last year. It was a change of venue from our previous 6 or so years elsewhere. Friday night about the 3rd inning of everyones first game it came down like a monsoon. By 8:30pm the fields looked like little ponds. We swore we would have to cancel the Tourn. the rest of the weekend. To everyones surprise Saturday morning we were on only a 1 hour delay and got the rest of the weekend in. Although it did not rain till the wee hours of the morning like this past weekend, the crew at VSP did a great job to save us. As for the park itself, yes there is still alot of work to be done. But there is alot of work and money being spent on things that aren't noticeable. I think the place has come a long way from the mess they inherited. The staff and crew go the extra mile to acomodate tournaments and make up for the short comings. We will once again hold our Wildcat Pride ASA ENQ "Spring Shootout" Tournament in 2013 May 24-26 Memorial Day weekend at this park. We will start praying for NO RAIN around April 1st...lol. Hope to see all the familiar faces and some new ones in 2013

Godfather ... would love to hear more about what they have been working on that's not noticeable, as well as what their plans are between now and next summer. Our team attended your tourney last year, but I think right now we are inclined to look at alternatives for that weekend unless there's improvement in the venue (i.e., either improvement to the current venue, or a different venue altogether). I do think VSP has possibilities and hope things do work out there in the long run.

I would also like to know where all this work and money is being used. Look forward to your reply. Thank You

From the looks of things and talking with them they have been slowly finishing the concession house, roof is finally done, electrical is further along, paving and stone work is moving. One major item I think for them is they finally got some irrigation on site so the fields won't dry up and be dust bowls with no grass this year. Who thought a park that size would have no water service to it? That was one of their major problems. Plus the previous owner started too much and half A$$ed it. Hey these are things I know or see don't shoot the messenger. I just know we had a pretty good time there, not to many inconviences. I am working with them to atleast enhance our tournament this year. Nobody hates porta potties more than me. Being in construction for 30+ years....well you understand. Besides we played at some pretty big tournaments (cough cough) this past season and hardly saw a clean brick and block bathroom.
