2011 Metro Dayton - USA/ASA National Qualifier and Eastern National Qualifier Berths

Thank you for your interest in the 2011 Dayton Metro.

There will be 1 USA/ASA National Tournament Berth awarded per age group and 1 Eastern National 'A' berth per age group (winner will get first choice of berths)

As it is a Natl Qualifer - we have to allow a full 2 hour window to get the bracket games in. We have secured 2 other parks - 4 diamonds each to be able to do this. 10u/14u will be at Kettering, 12u will be at Delco (a few miles south) and 16u at Action sports (this will have 200ft fencing as many 16u teams requested http://www.usactionsports.com/) Full directions will be posted tomorrow.

Pool Play will be 1:20 - No New Inning. Bracket will be 1:40 - complete the inning, proceed to ITB until winner. Losers bracket championship game - no time limit, as of course will be the Winners Bracket Championship game(s).

With the number of calamity days, many schools will still be in session on Friday, HS softball leagues and playoff games are way behind. We are working to minimize Friday games - we will have a 6:30pm and 8:00pm Friday night games. Saturday games will go at 8am with last game starting at 9:30pm. We will be offering a $50/team refund to cover the lost game opportunity.

10u Division will play their 2 pp games, followed by double-elimination as scheduled.

For the 12,14 and 16u teams we will play a single PP game that will not affect the bracket seeding. We talked to several coaches and all agreed that playing 2 Sat PP then several bracket will burn pitchers and players. Clyde will draw for the bracket games and provide us with the list in the morning - I will get it posted right away. This will give all their game times and opponents for the first bracket game.

Also, all head coaches must present ACE certification upon registration. We will have tyvek wristbands for gate. A Gold band is $8 for an all tourney/weekend pass. A daily pass/band will be offered for $5 (over 16). Teams will get 3 coaches bands in their team packet for the weekend.

We will have tourney shirts of course and have equipment vendors - Rip-it, Ringor, Akadema and more with good discounts on their product for teams participating.

Date: June 3rd,4th and 5th, 2011

Format: 4 Game guarantee, 2 pool play, followed by double elimination bracket.
Fee: $425 payment required at registration

We were discussing this tourney this evening and with all the premier teams that will be playing that weekend we are going to put together a committee that will be contacting regional college coaches and inviting them to attend.... no promises but hopefully we can get a good number of coaches to come out.

Hey Doug, looks to be a great start for the 16s, im sure this will be a tough tourney. Whats going to be in place for some fencing on some of the fields, is the city going to give us some temporary fencing for the older age groups?

It is open to all teams sanctioned in Ohio with ASA. We will be taking up to 16 teams per division. Cut off is May 20th .. first 16 teams in as paid are in.

Bill,

since it is a Metro (Local) ASA/USA Qualifier, the local association, in this case Dayton Metro, can stipulate the pool of teams that can enter. They can also stipulate the amount of teams due to facility issues (# of available fields and the amount of time alloted to play the tournament).

This is shaping up to be a great tournament, we need to get those 10's and 18's in here...........

We are thinking about being creative for the 18u's and graduation conflicts... any suggestions?

One thought is that we hold a round of 18u games Thursday anf Friday night to clear out pool play. We would then have a round early Sat morning at 9am (first bracket game) - let the girls go to graduation .. and finish them up on Sunday. Thoughts?
