I would say if a tournament would work with the local city waste management people.. something like a "bin" could be brought out and then have separate cans for plastic, cans, and other ... then it could be done.

But, it STILL is up to the disposal collecting people at the tournament to put stuff in the right bin VERSUS " one stop dumping".

I could see orgs doing it at their event .. but once again.. city events is another thing when it is city employees taking on the task.

I also want to thank Chris and Mike and all the Stingray coaches, parents and players... they are a great group .. Chris and Mike haev become great friends and I can not think them enough for their support and words of encouragement while I was trying to help Lou and Shorty with the toureny and coach our team. We had a 1pm game with them and the umpires wanted to start early - I called Chris and asked him to make their way to the field, then found out that one of my players "from Cleveland' went to Delco by mistake. I asked them and the umpires if we could have a few minutes for her to get to the park - we only had 8 players - and the Stingrays coaches had no problem with waiting. That is class and a team with an undersanding about why we do this for the girls.

Stingrays - thank you for being such good friends and coaches - look to see you guys in a couple weeks!

Yeah Doug, you ruined what would have been a nice battle with a Jalepeno flavored Brat with that "early call" lol... Sometimes it takes a tournament like this for us all to step back and remember that the game is not about us as adults at all - You are welcome and thank you for all your efforts this weekend.

As for the continued posts about fields and trash and distances and crews... I can't remember as single one of my girls say a word about any of it this entire weekend. They just wanted to know what field they were on, who they were playing and what the lineup was....At the end of Sunday...once again...not a word about any of it...To me, that is all that really matters in the grand scheme of things.

Good to see the Dayton City parks are being run mainly for the benefit of the public and not city employees.

For those teams making the Championship Game - the winning team gets their choice of the a dozen TCB Heavy Balls OR 12 TCB Wiffle balls. The runner up gets the other.

I will contact each championship winning coach and get their preference and contact the runner-up to let them know which they will be getting in the mail. Pete at TCB will get them mailed out this week.

We were glad we could help.

Your coaches were students of mine and Jen still is and it is a pleasure working with them and seeing them giving back what they have learned.

Don Catalfu, Mike Hahn and Mary Ellen Bonner deserve the most credit as they were their coaches for about three years during summer ball.

Thanks Howard

It was asked, but never answered. The Grand Slam is located out of, you guessed it, Stark County
