I would like to say that i am very proud of my 15u team. they showed me this weekend that they are more than capable of playing with any 16u team. The girls had a great run today but came up a liitle short in the bottom of the eight 5 - 4 to the Cyclones to advance to the championship game, who went on to win it all. I am very excited and look forward to being the coach of Valley Storm 15u.Great job girls.

Pool Play
Beat the Lady Mustangs in 5
Lost to the Cyclones in 7
Beat the Ohio Hawks in 7

Elimination
beat the Mustangs in 10
lost to the Cyclones in 8

Mike you have a great group this year. The schedule was not that friendly to you today and you had to play 25 innings in about four/five hours time and that is tough for any team. You all will do some great things this year. We will see you in Greenville.

Mike, you continue to be one of the best motivators and field coaches in the game. I thought the Mustang- Valley Storm 10 inning game was classic. Both sides battled adversity throughout. Good luck to you this coming season.

PS: The paint job on the wagon is awesome!

Hey!! I told everyone Mike & Rob and the quality of those fields would have us playing ball didn't I!!!! Way to go guys, what a great tournament!!! All the teams in the 16u bracket were loaded with talent any any two of the 5 teams could have made it to the championship.

Watching the Mustangs and Storm go into extra innings and then after winning, taking us (Cyclones) in extra innings again in the semi finals, just great fastpitch all day long!

The 16u championship, Cyclones vs. Hawks was another great game - watching El Gato (Cyclones) pitch to Beast (Hawks) was something every dad should get to witness...good stuff!!! :yahoo: (Although is was a long ride home with Beast going 3 for 3 against her sister...:lmao:)

And thanks to the Hawks for allowing her to get some good playing time in, we definitely appreciate it!!! :cap:

Congratulations Rob and Mike for an outstanding tournament. The fields, concessions and facilities were 1st class.

The tournament was filled with GREAT competition and sportmanship. Congratulations to the Hawks 16u and the Valley Storm 15u. Great teams with quality coaching. Chris/Derek and Mike, we wish you the best of luck next year.

We tried to get BigMike to put an apron on and get a picture, but he wanted no part of that. ;&

Great - Great games throughout all brackets in this tourney.

I just want to say I'm very proud of our Hawks 14U Black for battling all the way to the end. All of our game were close and all the teams we played against were class acts.

A quick comment and I will let it go - I hope that all of our girls hard work through this tourney is not overshadowed because we coaches made a simple roster mistake and someone threw out the "C" word. It's the first time this team has played together and we mistakenly left a girl off our roster. We later got her added and we were appropriately penalized by having to forfeit every game Saturday. Any claims that we played ineligible players is bush and not fair to our team, organization and especially our girls.

As for the folks that put on this tourney (Rob, Mike, Merl)- I know everyone appreciates the hard work in getting those fields ready. Amazing we even played Saturday.

Very nice job on the fields Mike and Rob. This is a very nice park and I can see this tourney getting pretty big in the future.

Cincy Static - you guys have a very nice team with great sportsmanship and leadership. Very nice defense and you are one of the very few that can flat out hit throughout the line-up. You are going to have a very successful year and I wish you the best of luck. Once we get some practice under our belt I would like to get with you for some friendlies. Once again, outstanding job and congrats on the championship - you guys deserved it.

Cincy Static have to agree with Paul here- team and coaching staff very nice and great sportsmanship. Really like the way you compliment the other players when they are attempting plays also. Know we do it, but you dont see alot of teams that do. Shows the girls alot when the coaches act this way. Congrats on your win- you played great and deserved it.

It sounds like the tournament was a success. The girls and the coaches know what they have to work on between now and the spring. There is an important lesson to be learned from this weekend.

I can understand some of the confusion during the fall season due to school and volleyball commitments and trying to get enough players so that you can field a team. Throw in the flu season and it can get down-right hectic.

A quick suggestion.....The coach is an exteremely busy person when they reach the ball park. Registration, team accountability, team warm-ups, and so-on. Last year, my DDs team had an assistant coach who would handle the team registration (rosters, insurance, and so-on) so that the head coach could focus on getting the team ready to play. It worked great.

Softballmomrlz22,

Thanks for the kind words. Without question, most coaches are doing this because they want to see the girls succeed & grow regardless if they are on their team or not. Paul, the Danger 12U, & their parents are all class acts!!!!! I was fortunate enough to get to speak to a few of you in between games. I look forward to scrimmaging you guys through the winter. You guys will be playing late on Sundays!!!

Thanks Vipers for the kind words, the girls wanted to play. Being out 3 already with flu, the other went down yesterday before the game. It was a great tournament and lots of talent in all age groups. My team and I learned a lot this weekend to get ready for next summer--overall, we didn't do bad for only being together as a team for about a month. Look forward to playing all of you next summer.

I watched your 8 player game and yes you have heart and talent. Every team I talked too was hit with the flu. I'm amazed everybody scraped up enough players. Especially this time of year with fall school sports and dances too. A lot of subs and teams with only 9 players. Cutting it close. Kids had to shake it off and get back out there, no injuries allowed.

First off I would like to say thank you to all the teams that attented and all the great words we recieved about the tournament we have gotten. With that said I would like to clear up a few things, the issue about the Hawks was that they had a couple of girls who played but were not rostered and that means they had illegal players it is not that the girls were too old and shouldn't have been playing for them they just didn't have them down on paper and therefore had to forfeit there games if there was any wrong doing with the intentions of trying to pull a fast one ,well that will come back to bite them in the ---. KARMA, Other than that it was a great tournament and look forward to seeing alot more teams entered next year. We will be Hosting one more tournament in May for the 12u Division and hope we can get about 10 -16 teams entered. This will be an A.S.A. ENQ Also.

You know that I have the utmost respect for you, your parents and your players. I'm not sure it should end the way it sits. I'm coming across as the bad guy, nothing unusual there, I can handle it but I stand by what I said. If you say thats what you were told, I believe you howver whoever told you is wrong. There is no room in youth sports for deceit, lies and falsehoods.

There is far more involved in youth sports than just the kids. There are whole families involved many of which exchange their time because they don't have the means for their kids to participate. I'm a huge advocate of those people.

I'll step off the soapbox for now. There was a wrong committed beyond a clarical error and I stand by that!
