After helping at tournaments that have limited fields for number of teams, moving pitching rubber back and forth, PAIN. Easier if all 43.

I would like to see the stats on that please. Thank you.

The reasoning I shared came from a meeting I sat thru at a National Fastpitch Coaches Association national convention where a Rules Committee discussed this and many other proposals for the sanctioning bodies. A representitive of the committee shared the information and members were ask to vote for or against making the recommendation. National ASA and USSSA reps were in the room. I was not allowed to vote because only committee members have a say but many questions were asked including why the change back. The vote was almost unanimous to support metal cleats to be reinstated.

I admit I was surprised at the support and if given a chance to vote, I'm not sure I would have raised my hand but the percentage numbers shared supported metal cleats. I can tell you the debate lasted a long time with many examples being shared by coaches from all facets of the game. That rules committee for NFCA seems to have a lot of influential power with sanctioning bodies but the NFHS still leads the way in setting the tone for school ball while ASA, USSSA, and the rest run their own shows. NFCA only makes recommendations.

It was after that meeting I was asked if I had any interest in being a part of the national board as a representitive for travel teams. I had been nominated for the Ethics Committee and lost the election on a ballot with about 12-15 names from across the country. Without knowing the outcome of the election, I turned down the chance as you can only serve on 1 committee at a time.

just to oxygenate the fire... and not directed at Rdsherman but liking the scarcasm.. last I recalled the fielders "could" see a ball hit with quite a bit more speed at them than the batters have coming in (unless you are 10u with a DD throwing 71mph)... yet only the batter has a mask!? And fielders could be at 15' from home plate and then have a can of corn be opened up on their face unprotected but because so many want parents and players deciding on what's safe vs being regulated... ah heck... here we go...:cap:

FYI...USFA is phasing out or AKA eliminating 40' at 14u. United States Fastpitch Association (USFA)

So USSSA, USFA, ASA, TCS, have changed to 43' for 14u. Will NSA remove option or did they already, not sure since I'm not familiar with NSA? ISA was at 43 in 2012. Point is, nice to see alignment.
