that kinda kills the slap. If the D doesnt field the slap and it gets out of the infield they are out, why not make it a single if it his the ground first than goes out past the 10' field line.

Jon,

I was talking with a parent the other day about this bunt ball thingy. If you want to put together a "tournament" for skills work, then maybe you ought to hold a soft toss tournament as well. Think about it.
  • You could do it cheap: i.e. $50 a team (no plate umps)
  • Everybody likes soft toss, and we all do it.
  • Plenty hitting work and massive defensive work, especially the outfield.
  • Quick games. You get one strike and two foul balls
  • Set up short fences and let the kids bomb some over the fence.
  • You would have slo-pitch scores without the stupid slo-pitch pitch to screw up their timing/swings.
My kids would probably like that. An offensive explosion with plenty of work for the defense.

It is now a foul ball not an out

Ok but that is still a bad for a good hit and bad D. A good slap will jump 2nd, or third and get a single and RBIs

After we try some test games we may change that rule. It is still a work in progress. Nothing is final until the Tournaments in Sept, and Oct.

I may try this in October before the Uniform blowout tournament. It does sound like a good idea.
