I guess I'm in the minority. I don't think this thread should be deleted. Some people early on brought up some very good points and maybe people can learn something from this thread. I thought the thread had died on June 2, at about page 10, but logged on today to see there's been another 14 pages. I would have to agree that the last 10 pages or so haven't added much to the discussion and probably could be deleted without losing anything. This thread would be a good primer of what can reasonably be expected from a travel team.

Yes, I once had a coach that lied to me and my daughter. She told the girls on the team that she would work to develop the 12 players she had on her team, but instead recruited more and more girls and asked some of the girls already on the team to leave or just sat them on the bench without explanation. Even though she was very wrong in her actions, we learned something from the experience and learned to appreciate our current team for the coaches, the parents, and the players. If we hadn't had that first experience, maybe we wouldn't be so grateful for what we have today. Things have a way of working out. This person had some very talented girls on her team over the years but has never able to keep them for very long. What goes around comes around. I just wonder how difficult it must be for her to watch other girls play varsity while her daughter sits the bench.

Is this site a coaches site or can I get an honest players poll? How many coaches have out right lied to a recruited player? We just quit a team because a coach promised our dd that she would either play 1st, 3rd, or catch. She would also bat 4th. He kept his promise up until her first tourney in Dayton. We were travelling 3 hours just to get to practices down their. He also promised he would sign up for some tourneys around here. Nope. Why would you move your starting 1st &/or 3rd baseman, (depending on where he put her for that game), as well as 4th in the line-up to right field and 7th when you played against a well known select team?

Well I can tell you that if a coach is making promises like that then you need to use your common sense. There isn't a coach out there that is worth anything that would make that kind of promise and have any intention to fulfill it. That looks like someone who was telling you whatever you wanted to hear in order to get your dd to fill his roster. Usually the only players on any tournament team that lock down a position prior to stepping on the field are the pitchers. Not her first season and not the first time hearing parents just like me. I guess they are just too afraid to put it in "writing". I however believe I am teaching my daughter NOT to take **** off anybody. Her power is to believe in her self, not that someone thinks she's not good enough so try harder. Sorry you didn't see the game, but the first 4 games on this team she played 3rd & 1st and made no errors. 1st, 2nd, & short made plenty. I mean come on, if a 1st baseman can't catch a ball thrown right at her at perfect tag level???????? When he switched her to first for an inning she didn't have any errors. I smell coaches and butt kissers. Like I said, I don't put my kid on a travel team just to say she is. I put her there to get more experience. She has played fall ball at the local college for H.S. players for 3yrs. now. She's a freshman this year. The college coach has already offered her a spot. She's not good enough?

That is absolutely a load of C R A P!!!!!!!! A college coach can't even talk to her until the summer after her junior year. Now we all know you don't know what you're talking about.
