What does it really matter whether you are a 1 or a 2? Either way, the top 2 seeds are in separate halves of the bracket and don't meet until the championship game. There's no real advantage one way or the other. Just beat who you're supposed to beat based on your seeding and don't worry about it.

The reason it mattered was it meant a first round bye and an automatic advance to the semi's if you seeded number one.

Yes, they do and they are very nice people.
Unfortunately, I don't think any of our teams will go back.

Maybe they meant to put the Niners at 1 seed , BUT the Niners coach asked to be 2 and get more games in for the weekend. Good Job Niners Coach , gotta respect a guy that wants to play all the games his team can.

I was told this:
Championship game started between #1 seed and #3 seed. #3 seed was winning when rain set in, game called and championship was awarded to #1 seed. I hope nobody reads anything more into this than me answering your question....I am just repeating what was told to me.

Ninercoach,

Who won the tournament, in your age group?

Now why would you think anyone would read more into that than the 1 seed being awarded the 1st place hardware because of rain.

It's amazes me the way people jump to conclusions that the Niners got homered or the tourney was fixed. Makes me wonder if those responding have been to the Paige Harshbarger Memorial Tournament. We went two years ago, only to support Mark & Paige. We were the ONLY team there that was not a rec team. Good to see Mark attracting travel teams. Why did you put this tournament on your schedule? It isn't a qualifier & its run by someone completely removed from the travel circuit. I'm amazed they had a computer there at all. Two yrs ago, we heard of this tournament from the family & advertised on OFC for him. I would suggest choosing more well established tournaments in the future if you expect a tightly ran ship.
