. oh, please forgive me my softball messiah. For I have sinned against thee. Oh please don't reveal me to the world because I hv offended thee.

Oh never mind Mr. Irrelevant. Just change your name on here again and try another angle. Your game is a bit tiresome.

I don't have a problem with rolling bats. In fact my daughter uses one. If you aren't cheating you aren't trying

Its only cheating if you get caught, right??
I agree that it is against the rules, but it is almost impossible to prove.

Hyperbole:
Hyperbole is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but it is not meant to be taken literally.

Read all of Frosty's posts. I think this is the case here. I chuckled, and never once thought about calling for his head. Some people need to come off of their moral high ground, and get over themselves.

Moral high ground is perfectly ok when defending safety for young people playing softball.

If I thought for a moment that calling for a poster's name would solve this problem, I'd be with you. Unfortunately, I think that while you think you are slaying Giants, in actuality you're chasing windmills.

I responded to BS44's post, not Frosty. Are they the same person?

Totally agree that catching and/or curbing what is becoming a growing problem is chasing windmills - I will hold on to the hope that when these people are found out and chastised it will influence one over zealous parent not do it. That will be a win. I just happen to be one of those people that thinks there are impressionable people out there that will try the cheating path if approached by knuckleheads. And maybe when one of their own is on the backside of a 100k lawsuit that they will reconsider.

I think all of us fall somewhere between https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-Mfd4E7kpvc and https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=r5KeGccP9Jk

I think tilting with windmills is a good thing if for nothing else it will make the GOOD people think twice about doing it...

(PS why isn't the video link available on this thread?)

Frosty Balls has to be a troll. No one can be that dumb... can they??

Nevermind, viewed all of his forum posts, has nothing to offer at all, never gave a rational opinion to anything, picks fights, and has yet to offer anything of minimal intelligence. In fact, I have spent too much time reading anything this person has posted. Save yourselves the effort.

I don't recall you standing on moral ground last summer. I do recall you saying it was bs. Such a hypocrite

I'm probably going to get my hand smacked (By Mark) for this, but I have a question. Do you know or have you ever actually met Mark?

I have and my husband and I are lucky enough to have him as our DD's coach. We've been in the travel/club ball world for a while now both here in Ohio and back east. Mark is truly one of the good guys and unfortunately in the fastpitch world those are pretty hard to find. His one and only concern is the girls. I have seen him deal with things that most coaches would pull their hair out over. Mark deals with them calmly and uses errors, mistakes etc. as teaching moments not an opportunity to berate or disparage.

He is also ALL about safety! I have seen him pull girls because he could see that they were sore, hurt etc. They never said a word as most of them don't, but Mark pays enough attention and knows his players well enough that he knows when to make that call. Face masks are encouraged and I can pretty much guarantee Mark would have a huge issue if one of his players was using a shaved or rolled bat. Only time he ever had an issue with a umpire regarding a bat was when a bat was taken from a player and deemed illegal. This was the same bat the player had used all summer across six states, was checked every time and no other ump had an issue. It wasn't rolled or shaved, it was the model and as stated no other umpire the entire summer had an issue with this bat.

I'm not calling you out and I don't honestly care who you are. I just wanted to say my piece and give my view of a coach that my entire family thinks is a terrific coach and an even better person.

Thanks gobug - sometimes umpires get confused about which bats are illegal and which ones are grandfathered. The umpires at the tournament you referenced were very good - mostly college umpires. He was confusing NCAA and Youth bats. The issue wasn't the bat - that wasn't even an problem for the player. It was the stance the umpire took about where the bat was going to be held - and his general attitude toward his employers - teams. But it worked out.

Mark, thanks for refreshing my memory. I do remember that the issue you had was where the bat was going to be stored and sitting right there saw that you once again were sticking up for your players. It's great as a parent to know that you always have our DD's best interest in mind.

What I have learned over the past few years is its more prevalent than most people know. During than span of a tournament you are likely to face at least one altered bat. Testing procedures at these tournaments are a joke, and unfortunately it will take someone getting hurt to change it.
