AA? LOL... no, rostering with ASA does not get a background check - that is only included with the ACE certification process...

Doug, have you heard anything more about this? It doesn't look like our Assistant Coaches (including me) will have time to get the background checks. If the Assistants don't sit in the dugout during the game, can they still perform publicly viewed coaching responsibilities? .

OH NO MIke I hope that thing from Kentucky ......... doesnt come up now >>............ how does that banjo song go - da da da...

Wasnt that one Assist. Jeff something involved with Tangy-Mike in that Kentucky thing PCABA was talking about?

LOL .. I read that and cracked up...

Ok - here is the deal with ACE...

Coaches need to have either a 2009 -or- 2010 ACE Card ... if they don't have either year, please get online and do the level 1 and bring the print out to show that you completed the test and the background check is in progress. I would suspect that 90% of all the coaches already have a 2009 ACE cert...

Thanks for understanding..

We are doing the draw tonight - PP will be listed in the morning...

Tourney Shirt - $15 / with all team names on back as well!

We will have limited number on hand - approx 150.

If any team would like to PM in your team's order by size - we will hold them back for you and make sure they are there for you next weekend.

Doug.

Just a comment on the misunderstood topic of ACE:

The 2010 ASA CODE states the following:

Part 5 - Eligibility, Competition and Tournaments
Article 501
Section C. - Eligibility
03. Junior Olympics

a. Any Junior Olympic team participating in championship play must have at least ONE ACE certified coach (current year) on the field/dugout during championship play games.
b. All Junior Olympic team personnel assisting in the dugout must have an ASA background check (current year)

So basically not every coach or team personnel needs an ACE certification. However, they do need to have an ASA background check.

What sizes do these come in? And any chance you would have measurements for the sizes? Thanks.

Had some more questions on ACE / Background...

All managers will need to have either a 2009 or 2010 ACE card. Since the ASA website has been messed up all spring we will take 2009 cards or recent 2010 cards or a printout from the ASA website that shows you completed a test in 2010. 2009 cards will obviously have a completed background check with them but if you just took the 2010 and the BG check has not been returned yet - bring your 2010 card and you will be fine.

Coaches and other dugout personnel - please bring your card if you have it (2009 or 2010) - and please make an effort to get it - the level 1 test is 30 mins online. We will not hold all coaches to it - but HIGHLY encourage it for the girls sake that you make an effort to take the test in the next 10 days.

I hope this helps - this is a National Qualifer and and we have heard that the website is now working for 2010 ACE certifications .. if you have issues online - bring a printout to the tourney showing you made an effort and the website errored out.

The ACE certificate will no doubt be checked at Nationals this year and it only takes 30 minutes to complete when the site cooperates.

Only the head coach needs to have the ACE certification card and the rest just need a background check. We have been playing in the Dayton league for years now and Shorty has required a back ground check of all coaches for years.

When I coached in little league they too did a background check.

If you can not get ACE cetified due to website technical difficulties you can still get a background check. Shorty can get this done through Dayton ASA for only $5 if your can not get this done yourself. Where as some of the ACE educational stuff is good and some not, the background check is a very good thing.

If you do not have an ACE card please find 10 minutes and $5 to get a background check done.

Let me know if you need help in getting this done and we can get it taken care of today.

Pool Play Brackets - the first round of bracket play will begin at 5pm Sat .. and conclude on Sunday...

We delayed the Saturday start until 9am to allow out of town teams to get here.... the double elim bracket makes for A LOT of games ... we had to start everyone at 9am to get them all in and leave Monday as a rain backup... Thanks to all for your patience .. it should be a great weekend of HIGH QUALITY softball.

MD:

We play two WV teams in pool, and from what I could glean on the internet (always scouting :D) both the Mountain Thunder and the Lady Aces are really tough.

BTW: Is Ripple a pitcher?
