That's the nature of rain delays. Beats not playing at all. If they got those fields playable for today they deserve a BIG pat on the back. Normally after a rain those fields are shot for a couple days.

The fields looked awful when we returned to sunny skies at 10:30 am. I am extremely impressed. They had all fields totally fixed and being played on by 1 pm! Some even sooner! Not sure how they did it but if I wore a hat I would definitely take it off to the grounds crews! Impressive!!

I agree 100%. Our game went off at noon and the field was in outstanding shape. Bravo to the grounds crew!

Best grounds crew I have ever seen to date. They came rolling in 8 deep between games to get things ready. WOW!!!!!!!

The grounds crew deserves a standing ovation for the work they did to get the fields ready. VERY impressed with the hard work they put in and the fields were in GREAT shape to play. Again, KUDOS!!!!!

The groundscrew that work there all the time definatley led the way. Us Doom dads just helped them out. They are definately top notch and loved the park as well. How field 4 ever got ready as fast as it did blew me away.

You are being kind to the "blue". I would say they were WAY off most of the games I saw. From 10U to 14U. Didn't get to see any 16U.

StrohBro,

Your on the money regarding the Blues, but I do not want to take away that it still was a great run tourny by the Doom!

Great job by the doom and their grounds crew to get all the games in this weekend. Hats off to you all.

I watched allot of good games this weekend and had a good time doing it. as for the blues as a whole this weekend......... I hear there is an ASA umpire clinic in a few weeks and they need to be there.

I am missing a Hawks' bucket pad that is very important to me if you find it, please let me know. :)

I agree 100%. The Doom Organization put on a wonderful tournament that was run VERY well. I'd go back there just to watch games. Very nice fields, concessions priced nice and enough shade to get out of the sun.

Great job by the Doom organization on the tournament. The Grounds crew was the best I've ever seen. They worked their butts off. Unbelieveable how quick the got the fields ready to go after the rain. Some blues very good, others NO COMMENT.

That Goshen grounds crew is absolutely amazing. After last Fall's Laser event was held here in Goshen.... the word was out.

I am sure the Heisler Park organization ..... made of volunteers who raise money for the local rec kids to play.... is thrilled to have the Doom host their event in Goshen.

The fields are awesome folks !!!!!! And organizations are just crazy for not running their org tournament there... because of this ground crew and their knowledge of their ball fields and what it takes to get them up and running. That knowledge is so valuable to a TD... that I can't explain.

Kudos to the Goshen volunteers and their hard work and knowledge.

I bet the Doom people were impressed as well how fast the fields were back up and going ( see comment as to the game time was moved back up ). Your org would be too. They ONLY allow one event a month there..... as they have rec stuff going on until late July. April and May is open to any org wanting to run their event there.

Early knowledge helps them so they schedule their rec games as "away" games on that weekend of your event.

I've always been impressed with the Goshen people and their work for the kids of this community.

Disclaimer: Umpires were NOT my umpires that I use at my events in Goshen. They were Cincinnati district umpires and I'm sure the best ones was doing baseball over the weekend. :(

As for the umpire clinic in Cincinnati in June..... seems to be a lot of people would "benefit" by attending.... :D:lmao: being it is taught by the State ASA and HS teacher..... who happened to send this crew to Goshen for the Doom event.

I would hope Doomers would demand a little better quality next time as I saw some ASA better umpires doing the USSSA event in Harrison over the weekend. I didn't ask why though
