That Goshen grounds crew is absolutely amazing. After last Fall's Laser event was held here in Goshen.... the word was out.
I am sure the Heisler Park organization ..... made of volunteers who raise money for the local rec kids to play.... is thrilled to have the Doom host their event in Goshen.
The fields are awesome folks !!!!!! And organizations are just crazy for not running their org tournament there... because of this ground crew and their knowledge of their ball fields and what it takes to get them up and running. That knowledge is so valuable to a TD... that I can't explain.
Kudos to the Goshen volunteers and their hard work and knowledge.
I bet the Doom people were impressed as well how fast the fields were back up and going ( see comment as to the game time was moved back up ). Your org would be too. They ONLY allow one event a month there..... as they have rec stuff going on until late July. April and May is open to any org wanting to run their event there.
Early knowledge helps them so they schedule their rec games as "away" games on that weekend of your event.
I've always been impressed with the Goshen people and their work for the kids of this community.
Disclaimer: Umpires were NOT my umpires that I use at my events in Goshen. They were Cincinnati district umpires and I'm sure the best ones was doing baseball over the weekend.
As for the umpire clinic in Cincinnati in June..... seems to be a lot of people would "benefit" by attending....
:lmao: being it is taught by the State ASA and HS teacher..... who happened to send this crew to Goshen for the Doom event.
I would hope Doomers would demand a little better quality next time as I saw some ASA better umpires doing the USSSA event in Harrison over the weekend. I didn't ask why though
