Did a little research and it seems that this is the rule in most other states. If you qualifiy, you then play up in most cases.

Yeah, let's get with it! Post that schedule.

Do you know how many good places to eat are in Strongsville? A lot! I need to plan my munchie runs...

Rules from TD and Questions:

Placement in the elimination tournament will be determined by a random draw when the team manager checks in on day one. (So it doesn't matter if you go 2-0 or 0-2 in pool play no seeding?)

All pool games will have an 80 minute DROP DEAD time limit or 7 innings. No new inning will start after 70 minutes. Pool play games can end in a tie. (So revert to last full inning played if inning is not finished?)

Saw those rules ...

1) Right ... doesn't matter how you do in pool play ... a few other tournaments do it like that as well ... and I don't have an issue with it especially if it is a showcase.
2) When I see "drop dead", I assume that whatever the score is at the time is the final score, unless they specifically say "revert back" ... so, in other words, choose visitors if you win the flip! Don't like drop dead at all, revert back or not ... just asking for stall tactics ...

I assume that HoO Explosion, Miami Valley Express, Tidal Waves (if that was the '94 team) and Ohio Classics Black are no longer in the tournament as they have earned their berths to USA/ASA Nationals.

Congrats to all those teams for their success.

Agree except this is a National Qualifier. So if pool play games mean nothing then Drop Dead in Pool Play means nothing since they are not seeding for bracket play.

Please update Tidalwaves entry to read Tidalwaves 95 to avoid confusion.

Thank you.

I agree with coach Murph, that is how ASA has done it in the past. It doesn't stop you from playing up but it locks you into ASA at the age limit . Couple of years ago a 12U played up in a 14U ASA event and won it and it locked them into 14U ASA, ( it didn't matter that they turned down the bid) but the team was planning on playing NSA-USSSA, so it didn't matter. The knew they didn't plan on going to ASA Nationals. I know Jim Clark- Johnnies recalls this conversation and post on OFC.

ok, I have to ask.. if you are playing pointless pool games that are drop dead at 80 minutes then why do you even have a rule that no inning starts at 70 minutes??? This makes absolutley NO sense!! so you dont want to start an inning you cant finish...... because somehow that would not be fair........in a game that doesn't mean anything anyway..... and if you dont finish the game before 80 minutes, then they are still going to stop it and it still does not mean anything!!

So here is my question without any pointed sarcasm... why not just have 80 minute drop dead times??

Wonder where all the 12u teams went. Thers are 12 listed and only 7 remain, so we play 2 different xplosive teams in pool play, not that it matters for bracket play anyways.

One 12u already won the bid and 2 or 3 others dropped out. Sorry for the low number of teams.
