The youth fields are across the street from Volunteer Park. We will be sending out blank brackets sometime on Thursday once we know that there are no other changes in the amount of teams that are playing. We are sorry for the changes in the pool play schedule. Several teams were confused with the rule of not being able to play once you have qualified. Most of them thought since they had qualified for Eastern's that they could not play in our tournament. We also had some last minute registrations and dropouts. We thank you for your patience.

How many girls have signed up for the showcase games? Are coaches ok with this? risking an injury just prior to a National qualifier?

The youth fields are VERY nice fields! Tons of parking and no gate fees....a nice change. What a great place to host a tournament.

Hopefully we get to play over there, the fields at the new rec center are horrible. Like playing on dusty concrete and the girls say the box is like dirt on carpet.

Looks like the Explosives web site is not being updated. After beating the NEO Crush, Buckeye Heat 95 got knocked down into the loser's bracket by Explosive Black, courtesy of a three run jack by Black after Buckeye Heat was leading late in the game. In the loser's bracket, we beat NEO Phoenix and then played a cardiac kids game with the Vipers. Early on the Vipers took a 1-0 lead. Sometime in the fourth or fifth Buckeye Heat gained the lead with a two run jack by Olivia Schumacher. Back came the Vipers to go up 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Buckeye Heat goes down 1-2-3 in the top of the sixth. Holds Vipers in bottom. In the top of the seventh, first two batters go down and third batter, Sami Parave, hits a line drive double. Lead-off hits Parave in to tie the game and our No. 2 in the line-up knocks in that run to go ahead. Then things just went crazy, including a two out suicide. All tolled, Buckeye Heat scored six runs in the top of the seventh. Not at all laying down, Vipers came right back to load up the bases with no outs, but a line drive to 1st, an outfield catch, and a strike out ended the game. Whew.

Keep getting the fields ready. The bracket can get updated tonight!!! lol Looking forward to playing at youth fields. This way outfielders cant play 250' and make over the shoulder catches on fly balls.

Explosive Fastpitch and Strongsville you have a great setup with the number of fields and conditions. I would only say that temp fences on New Rec fields would make it great.

Being 18U this is my final season, but I will suggest this tournament to our other age groups for the future.

Thanks

That was a great game played by both teams. I hope the little girl that got hit in the arm is going to be fine. You all have a great team and great parents, very respectful. Wish you all the best today and good luck for the rest of the season. I do have one question, does the dog shake hands to? That dog was awesome. Good luck guys!!

@Vipers:

Yes, it was a great game, with great and respectful fans on your side as well. As for Casey the Wonder Dog, the cool thing about her and the post-game line-it-up is she goes bonkers whether we win or lose. Sometimes you can actually catch her grinning (I'm not making this up, it's a golden retriever trait) as she goes through the line. Gives me some much needed perspective when we have lost.
And you should see the look of reproach I get from her when I forget to call her out. (BTW, she's psyched because our next three tournaments are also dog friendly; she loves chilling out at the ball field).

As for the player who got hurt, there appear to be no broken bones and she was able in the second game today to play short and bat. Too tender to pitch, and playing in the losers bracket where there are so many innings in such a compressed period of time, we really missed her in the circle.

@pickledad
I would say that what I think was the initial year for trying to post almost live results on the internet was not a success, though thanks to the Explosive organization for giving it a try. We were not at Volunteer Park this morning, so all I can tell you is what I know happened at the two fields behind the church. There was a Winner's bracket game at 8:30 at each field. Championship Fastpitch beat Maddogs in a thriller and I believe the Outlaws beat Lasers Silver. At 10:00 am, Buckeye Heat beat the Maddogs and Lasers Silver beat Ice Black. Buckeye Heat then lost an exciting, high offense game to the Lasers Silver. I think that McMadness White had just come down from the winner's bracket for Lasers Silver's next game as we were leaving. Pretty sure it was McMadness White and not McMadness Red.

Is that clear as mud?

Hopefully someone can provide a more complete summary of things soon.

That homer was amazing and done by Sarah Kreitzer who has been doing it all year for us. Our speedsters (Megan Mave & Shelby Lantsberry) got on and then she knocked them in. That was a great game, one of the best X-black has played. Won both on Saturday to keep us in the winner's bracket.

We then got knocked into losers bracket this morning by Valley Extreme heverly. Then beat Mc Madness Red. We finally lost a heart breaker 1-0 to Outlaws. Great defense and pitching by both teams. The catcher for the outlaws is an amazing hitter. She doubled and scored the only run of the game in the third (I think). Great weekend in all.

Looking forward to Loudonville-Always great to travel there. Love the area.

Great outing for us and the girls played hard.

Sounds exciting cgs, congrats on enduring thru adversity, sounded very exciting and competitive. Appreciate the update!

I would love to bring my Border Collie to the ballfield, perhaps she is old enough now to just chill-ax and not burn to chase balls and herd children .... lol

Are the Outlaws still rolling, alive and well? Sounds like Outlaws, Lasers Silver, MC Madness and possibly Maddogs alive late in the tourney?
