Heard the worse excuse for not wearing a face mask from a middle infielder last weekend. If she wore a mask she couldn't wear a visor. Yes she was serious.

But also heard a girl from another team that was in the outfield and lost it in the sun and got hit on the forehead telling her parents she wanted a mask.

There would be no question if everyone had to witness your own child being wheeled off to facial reconstruction surgery and pay the thousands of $$$ I had to spend to put my beautiful dd's face back together. Doc said had the ball come at her any harder, the broken cheek bone would have pierced the skin and protruded from her face or worse, the force to the nose was just shy from killing her. No sport is worth losing my kid for. You bet she wears a mask now! I don't wish that on anyone's dd. But I urge everyone to seriously consider what we went through when arguing this debate.

Unfortunately, change takes time. I was glad to see more college pitchers wearing them. The kids should have the option. My kid is a pitcher and I leave it up to her. She used to wear one, but does not anymore.

If a college coach won't look at her, then I wouldn't want my kid playing for that coach anyway. Even if she were to get a full ride, does your daughters face or life have a price tag??

Don't let any college coach take away what you as a parent know is more valuable.........

Talked to a DII college coach at a tournament this past Friday and asked him his opinion on wearing a mask. He said, he does not make it mandatory but he encourages his pitcher and corners to wear them.

All of these people jumping up on soap boxes demanding that all infielders or pitcher and corners must wear masks need to step back. Police your own back yard and get out of your neighbors. I read on another post how a coach couldn't believe a TD didn't require it of every team because he makes it mandatory of his team. At younger ages both my girls wore them, now they don't. Seniors 17 and 18. One plays second the other is a catcher that also plays the corners. Mouthpiece is as far as my rules go, our choice, not yours.

It cracks me up how we continue to talk about masks..get over it people!!! Corners and pitchers I can see wearing a mask ..and even I can't believe when I see a third baseman or a pitcher not wearing a mask..but to say that it should be a rule for all infielders to wear mask is a bit ridiculous..sure bad hops are going to happen..a fat lip here and there..that's the game..next thing we are going to want rules for infielders to dress like hockey goalies..or even shin guards.. middle infielders should definitely be ok without a mask if they know how to play that position..sure an accident might happen every now in then..Leave it up to the player who is playing..taking a bad hop off the chin that makes a ball player.
