It is amazing to me that neither the TD nor a Gateway representative has responded to any of these postings. I suppose when you mess up this bad an apology just isn't good enough, but it wouldn't hurt either.

We had a similar discussion here last year and the year before with early-season tournaments by the same TD. I think it was at a different park in Fairborn, but the same situation existed. I believe he normally runs slow-pitch tournaments.

He comes on here from time to time and responded two years ago to everyone's complaints. I sent him an e-mail then and politely explained that if he was going to run fast-pitch tournaments, the expectations are much, much higher than slow-pitch and told him what the expectations were.

I have no idea why he continues to run fast-pitch tournaments. Was this an ASA, or which organization? If ASA, then people need to contact the Ohio ASA JO Commissioner, Warren Jones. He will look into it, I guarantee. He's done a real good job since taking over.

Believe it or not, way back when I used to play slow-pitch, this is just the way it was and nobody really thought much about it. So I think this is what happens when slow-pitch guys try to run girls fast-pitch tourneys. But this TD should know better by now.

Like many of the parents , family members, players and coaches, I was completely disgusted with how the tournament was ran. Everything that has been said is 100% correct, about the conduct of the td and the Gateway staff. I am just greatful that no player got hurt. Playing that late at night could have been disasterous! My personal opinion s that Gateway and the td should be banned from conducting any tournaments.

The one positive aspect of the whole tournament is that was some very good games played. Good umpiring. and a common understanding of how not to run a tournament. I would like to say to all the teams that played this past weekend good luck! I hope all have a successful season!

We played a tournament in Boardman OH. It rained Friday night and all day Saturday. Not one game was played late and the fields were awesome the whole day. Other than the weather not a single complaint.

It is only about 3 or 4 hours from Cincinatti. Maybe next year you all can come in this direction. Your guaranteed a better time! ;D ;D

Actually erijam we did have a player get hurt. Not sure how long she will be out but she is a starting infielder and our leadoff hitter. Sprained her ankle in the second pool game. I cannot say for sure if the field condition was THE reason but players did have to run gingerly around the home plate area, and that is where the injury occured.

Joe,

Warren Jones is the Region 9 Commissioner, Bob Ward is the JO Commissioner, Just for your Info.

Sporse, thank you. I had forgotten that. Nonetheless, it would be Warren Jones I'd be talking to. I don't know Bob Ward and my team went to ASA Nationals last year. Warren was the one who took care of everything and did a darned good job in the process.

The tournament was not an ASA qualifier of any kind. Ron made that clear before the tournament. It was a local tournament that was sanctioned ASA.

Joe,

You are right Warren is a great guy, He was the Umpire in Chief for years and then replaced Howard Honaker after he retired, Bob Ward was a District Commissioner when I was the District JO Commisioner. He is an outstanding guy also, both are a credit to ASA.

Just providing some background on Bob for you, He will go out of the way to help or find out the right answers for you..

You are correct in pointing to Warren, as the saying goes - the Buck stops there.

For the love of the game!
