I'm curious to know what everyone thinks should be a punishment for a player that has broken the OHSAA rules on this topic? I can only assume that a school would take some level of action. I believe they would have a right to discipline a player beyond the action taken by the OHSAA. Most schools have a Code of Conduct of some sorts but I haven't seen one in years to know if this kind of thing is addressed.
While I believe it should be handled on a case by case evaluation, I might agree to a suspension from participating in any athletic events for an entire school year. Why not! There's a lot more going on than the game and it may seem harsh but could be merited depending on the blatant nature of the infraction.
In a scenario where the dad was the coach for the travel or Rec team and a kid took on an assumed identity to play, I would definitely consider a full year suspension from all school sports-------not just softball. Somebody should learn a lesson from it...........
