flanagan9of9,
From what I have seen, you guys are doing great. Remember this phrase, "crawl, walk, run." You have a vision and you are on track. Good luck and may the weather gods smile on you.

Wvan,

thanks for the nice comment. While it is exciting having a nice tournament for everyone, it seems like we do a lot of crawling, which can be a good thing. We are starting to walk and wobble a little bit now. HA.

Now about that rain.....we looked into rain insurance (yes, they have that) last year, and it cost $3,000 for $30,000 of coverage, and the measurable rain is at Port Columbus airport, not Olentangy fields. We thought $3,000 buys a lot of diamond dry.

I am not sure but this tourney is most likely still looking for 1 more 10U team. We had to pull out because PONY wants us in Sterling VA Saturday that weekend for ceremonies and coach check ins with pool play the following Sunday. Unlike last year at PONY's where we could start on Monday for pool play at PONYs. Sure hated to pull out of this tourney but thought we could open up a spot for another team interested when we couldn't go.

Thanks

Just looking at the 12U listing and after seeing a half dozen or more of the teams already this spring, I have to say that this age group is absolutley loaded. It should prepare a lot of teams for late July/early August.

We are also happy the 10u is staying full. There are a lot of great teams in every division, it should be a great weekend for softball in Columbus. Those that weren't here with us last year, please know this: we will do everything humanly possible to play the tournament. Even though I am positive it will be 80 and sunny all 3 days, we are bringing in more ground crews and more diamond dry than last year. You know, just in case.

Geez, if they are bringing in more diamond dry than last year, somebody on tournament staff should be demanding a Christmas gift from the diamond dry purveyor. That's a lot of diamond dry. But commitments like this make teams want to return.

Good point, cgs. I would think Diamond Dry does a heck of a business in Ohio from March-June. Well, I guess July too.

While it is an expensive item to purchase, we feel the teams pay enough for fees and that tournaments should do their darndest to get them playing. Some tourneys I have been to, it starts raining, and everybody looks at everybody and says "where are the crews?". No one in sight goes to work on the fields. Like we are a Florida climate, or something.

Good luck 10U teams. Sure wish we could be there. Sorry we had to pull out due to PONYS. I know Mike and the rest of the gang will make it a weekend packed full of softball. They have a really good program going on there.

Thanks for the kudos, classics. We were sorry to see you pull out, but I certainly can appreciate the reason why and you were also professional enough to let us know early on. Keep us in mind for 2006.
