I got to wish all the HS coaches good luck and pray they can fix all the bad habits they picked up from all these know-it-all travel ball coaches before games start. :)

My hope is that my freshman DD has fun. She has fully recovered from an injury that the doctor feared could be career ending. Hearing those words 10 months ago changed my perspective on softball completely. Academics, friendships, memories and life experiences are what I want for her. Anything more is just icing on the cake! :)

My oldest DD is a senior and was telling me last night that she is excited about this year for two reasons:

1) It's her last year

2) It's her last year

I asked if #1 was becasue she's a senior and want to enjoy every moment of it and #2 is because once the season is over with she's done. She answers yep!

I'm still trying to to talk her into being a walkon at Ashland U next year :D. But, this rodeo is just beginning as my youngest is a freshman next season.

I'm excited for my older dd to have her time in the sun as a freshman. She has been somewhat in the shadows of her younger sister for years and now it's her turn to have a special softball experience. I hope she has fun, makes new friends and enjoys the excitement of playing for her school.

I pray that the players enjoy the season and the game for what it is, a game. I hope that all the summer egos can check themselves at the door and let the kids play the game. I have coached for many years and I will assure you that the majority of negative opinions start at the top.

I have coached high school state teams and national champion summer teams and I see no less percentage of poor summer coaches than I do high school coaches. My highest wish would be that ALL the players and parents have the best experience where ever the are playing. This coach bashing is of epidemic proportion and certainly does not help our sport grow.

If you can be constructive bring your knowledge to the table, if not at least be supportive.

Here is t a great year for all!

Now, who can argue with that ??!?

However, If my daughter has a crappy TB coach, that's the result of making a poor choice last fall - and the possibility of changing teams still exists. But, if we have a poor HS coach, we're stuck with them.

BRAVO , Honor:yahoo: and glory finally a post were someone actually wants there DD to have some fun with the High School season instead of trying to hurry it along to get to the ,wait a minute , one more second, OHHH YAA the prized winning travel ball season were all the rich and'' EARNED ARROGANCE'' people can gather together to talk about how there DD is going to play d1 softball , plus the other parents who are trying to act rich ,And i seem to have forgotten:lmao: all the great travel ball coaches who are so worried that there players are going to pick up bad habits, it seems like all the d1 schools would be playing for a NCAA Championship if all these great travel ball coaches would coach some college ball in Ohio , just saying . Good luck to every High School softball player may you stay injury free and may you'r season be a great memory.;):cap:

Yesterday started off with a trip down memory lane looking at baby pictures of her first glove, first ball, first tee, rec ball then travel ball. Shared stories and well wishes with my fellow softball moms and sobbed liked a big old baby. Put on a good game face when she got home from school told her to go have some fun then she went off to tryouts by herself. She's ready and giving it her all. I hope that all the hard work pays off. Whatever happens I couldn't be more proud. Hope she makes great friends, great memories and learns some great lessons. This may be the longest week ever! Good luck to everyone!

Amen Spirit1, we all come on OFC to a share passion for the sport we love and then have to read a bunch of petty mud slinging. As with every other sport good and bad coaches. How about we choose to support everyone and build up instead of tear down.

I agree with this wholeheartedly after this weekend. My daughter was told her swing was terrible, and she did not have the offensive skills to support a travel player. She played varsity last year at her HS. She has played travel since 10U, but has focused more on her arm, glove, and pitching. After that episode, she said, "I might as well quit softball, I am never going to get to play in college". We thought we lost her.........after years, hours, of work, she lost 28 lbs, just to be a better player. This is where no matter what softball coaches say, or do, good parents play their role, and that is often forgotten in the oversight of coaching!

DD is on 3rd day of tryouts. Not saying a word, just wishing her the best of luck, and go out and work as hard as she can. This time in HS will go by faster than she realizes, I'm hoping I can hold it together when shes a senior and walks off the field for her last game...... probably not though, which I'm assuming will be most of the parents on here. Wishing all the girls at every level of play good luck and a safe season, and remember ( I learned this the hard way) JV or Varsity.... it doesn't matter, bust your butt like its the last game, every game. Cant wait to sit and cheer my dd on for her HS.........no matter what team she makes!

That's where I will be hiding under the bleachers so I can run off with her bat.
