Can someone explain how to identify the pitch? What type of indicators may give the batter a advantage? I’m sure this depends on individual pitchers, different pitchers would have tendencies that may help the batter identify the pitch more easier than other pitchers.

The first two indicators are the pitcher's grip and the spin of the ball. That's why many pitchers now try to hide the ball until hand separation. Next would be the pitcher's finish. Last, Pitchers will have tendencies that you need to look closely for such as a slight slowing of her arm speed in the middle of the arm circle for a change-up. Bill Hillhouse used to throw BP for DD before he went off to be a college Pitching Coach. He used to work on all of these things with her.
