I also know that Lane's 14u team is in Columbus IN with us, Greg's 14u is short players due to other sports, and Dennis's 16u is also at another tournament. Kavin has player issues to from what I recall. Not that I helped but it does give you an idea of where we are.

Does any of you guys (12u coaches) know the OFC Heat teams. Looks like they are in at Beavercreek (USSSA) .. but I don't see the turnout. Just checked the thread. I just e-mailed the Liberty Lasers 14u.

HCDAD,

There was a miscommunication between Tim and I. The teams above did call and ask if they could get in, but the schedule is posted and has been sent out to the teams and coaches, including college coaches.

I apologize for any confusion.

Thanks,
Marie

But then the schedule gets changed....................

Marie,

Received the schedule and the rain out policy. To say "if it rains Friday night or Saturday morning the games will be moved to later Saturday etc." can create a lot of problems.

Some of the out of town teams may not be coming until that morning and no one can be certain whether or not it rained in Goshen.

Can you at least post something on the OFC so folks can check things that morning?

Thanks

But then the schedule gets changed....................

HCDAD9: I don't understand you and your theory at all. First off, I haven't seen many tournaments in the Fall that can have the luxury of closing an event off early. It's not like Spring and Summer events.. where teams and organizations have pick their tournaments all winter long and get in... thus obviously making a TD's job much easier.

The problem with Fall ball tournaments is that proballly 60% percent of the coaches ..say from the 2009 season.. have no clue in August what they have in girls, whether or not they will have enough to field a team, money to finance their entry fee.. but most of all... many coaches have no idea in July if they are even going to be coaching the following year.

The luxury of filling a tournament at the first deadline is absolutely not there. Especially a first year event...even if it is a Lady Laser event.

The facilities at Goshen is a wonderful park and the people who are representatives of the park is about the nicest people I have ever met and their commitment to the children in this community is outstanding. This park was built by a man many years ago who coached softball in this community. When no practice fields could ever be found in the community for the girls... he built his own for the girls. A huge undertaking and I can call him a friend as he came to many events I held in the 1980's and early 90's. Good man.

So go through the tournament threads... inform yourself about the perils of Fall tournaments and show to me where any single tournament in Ohio is closed as it is filled up. It is not there.

As for letting in the Buckeye Heat 15u after having two weekends of disappointments due to weather and parent spending two nights of motels to play one game...at no fault of the TD and due to rain...

I think we did the organization a service... I think we did the children a service to get playing time and their parents to be happy once again to watch their children play the game they so dearly love... let alone maybe that one child that gets a look at by a college coach.

That's what it is all about. The kids or young ladies of our softball community. And I thank Marie and the Laser organization for the opportunity they have given us in Goshen to host their event and to after all the hours of conversation I have had with her over the past three weeks... that she care deeply about the girls ... as much as we do in Goshen. That's refreshing.

Weather forecast for the weekend as it stands one hour ago.

Friday rain until around 4 pm. Friday night cloudy and no rain. Early morning hours (2am to 5 am) chance of a "wrap-around shower" from the low pressure system moving east. This is from the National Weather Service out of Wilmington which I just got off the phone with them.

Another station says no rain on Saturday as the front moves through late Friday night.

All stations says it will be breezy all weekend.

Ohioquakerman, Congrats on being the first person I am truly irritated with on OFC lol. My problem with this whole deal is with saying one thing and doing another. I believe others were disappointed in the handling of schedules. Pretty sure I was the LAST to chime in. Then when I did I was replied to on this post and said the schedule was frozen and that there was a MISUNDERSTANDING between YOU and HER. Reread post if you would like. Then the schedule was changed. I'm all for the more the merry but as the old saying goes: do what you say. Or in this case, DONT SAY IF YOU ARENT GOING TO DO IT THE WAY YOU SAY. Can you honestly tell me a change was not made after it was told to my post that there wouldnt be? If it is about $ I could probably get a couple more teams to enter for you and it would be interesting to see at what point there is a true cutoff. I believe there were two extra teams added, not one. It did affect my dds scheduling as out of town guests wanted to show up to see one game which was changed to a different opponent as they knew players on the other team as well. As I said in an earlier post, I have no say on my dds team but I it would be nice if this had not have been changed........and changed...........and changed. So are we good now or will some teams have their opponents switched again?

I will not post on here after this regarding this particular "issue" as I fully believe in people contacting me directly with issues and not airing them on a public forum behind "anonymous" screenames.

Before any change was made in a team's schedule, I personally contacted that particular team's coach. No changes were done without the approval of the team's coach first. This was also stated in the email to the coaches.

Vern - in response to your post regarding the rain policy. This is my decision as to how to handle any rain and to keep the games moving. Every tournament has policies regarding rain and this is ours. I will not have access to the internet before the tournament on Saturday as I will be at the fields in the early morning. Not all coaches check the OFC either. There is a number (my cell phone) included in the rules sent previously to call for any rain delay messages. It is every team's coaches responsiblity to check this # for any updates. It will be updated accordingly.

A tournament takes a lot of work and preparation. We are looking forward to some great softball games in Goshen this weekend.

Thanks,
Marie
