I have always counted ties as half a win and half a loss so looking at the winning percentages if you do that the 8-3 team has won .727 and the 7-2-1 team has won .750 so the 7-2-1 team has the better record. Strictly from a standings perspective. You could look at some form of co-champs as well.

That is kinda how i was looking at it, the team with 8-3 feels since they have more wins they should shen the league, we have also thought of a point system 2 points for a win 1 for a lose and 1/2 for a tie.

More points for a loss than a tie?? Typo? Can't do by points as team who has more games will get more points. Best way to do by far is counting the loss as half a win and half a loss and doing percentages as eaton476 said.

Schedule one more game and let them determine it on the field. Nothing more exciting then a championship game.

Officially in the NCAA, in all sports, and NFL, a tie is counted as a half of a win. Therefore, to calculate a winning percentage of a team that is 7-2-1, you would divide 7.5 by 10. There for they are .750.

In the situation where there is one 8-3 team and one 7-2-1 team, using the NCAA/NFL formula the 7-2-1 team would be the league winner.
