I don't think it was intended to be a jab at coaches.

After going back and re-reading her post I agree. That's why I edited the post.

I too agree that everyone does not need to wear a mask on the field and agree that masks do not need to be mandated.

I guess my biggest issue is, I don't see the reason that some criticize people that do want masks on their players. Let's be honest, 95% of the kids that we're talking about aren't and never will be playing at the level that you and Cammi played at. Their skills aren't what yours are and may want the extra protection. To each, his (her) own is my stance.

I am all for respect of others thoughts and beliefs...but when it comes to a child's safety, certain things mandated. Car seats, seat belts are now mandated because parents didn't enforce usage....
There is a big difference in what you are trying to compare. There is no fundamentally correct way to survive a crash without a seatbelt. There is a fundamentally correct way to field a ball without a mask. Children have no choice if they will be in their parents car or not. Children do have a choice if they will play softball or not. I’m definitely not against a child wearing a mask. But I am against people telling my child that she has to wear a mask.

So let me get this straight; you MANDATE your players wear a mask? What if your top player says she's not comfortable wearing one. I assume you sit her? Right! doubt it.

She doesn’t play infield!

I absolutely would sit her from the infield. It’s a rule just like wearing our uniforms even if you don’t like the way they fit, wearing a helmet when batting, hitting in the position I tell you too even if your mom thinks you should bat first, play the position I tell you, stay in the dugout during at bats even if you’d rather cheer from the field, on and on

I can respect your choice , I do not agree. What will be next? Should we mandate every players diet? Should we mandate they stay in a monitored room pre game to insure proper rest? You know diet and rest can contribute to a players reaction time too.

We mandate a batting helmet and pitchers pitch slower than a ball hit off a bat ... on top of that hard to get a bad hop from a pitcher to the face

A child not wearing one won’t play in our infield! A player not using a helmet to hit won’t do so. Simple.

Helmets are mandated. Pitchers throw slower than the speed of a ball off the bat ....in addition no bad hops to batters faces - except occasional 10u, lol.

There will be a law and it will be mandated in the future. It will never be named after a poor victim on a team that I coach. Will it be named after a girl you coach?

Will we all wait to see it before mandating it? We are living in the hindsight now! It’s 20/20
