Gosh, happytobeme, as much as I know and respect you, I really don't believe this. I highly doubt that the people who set the rules for the sport think about this at all. I think in some respects, it's almost the opposite ... it's more about showing a "toughness" ...boys' baseball doesn't require it, so why should girls' softball? As you know, I am a big proponent of them ... I want to keep those faces beautiful but, more importantly, keep them safe and healthy. I hate to say this, but I am afraid it is going to take someone to die before this is seriously looked at, and unfortunately, it's just a matter of time before it happens.

I know Jeff, I told you I was cynical and completely hope I am wrong.

We have seen safety concerns "overlooked" for many years in other sports. The big money business of TV sports can cloud decision making.

I know big money can do that, but I just have a hard time believing that, as popular as the game has become on TV, that it's playing a factor here yet. It's not and never will be anything close to pro football, baseball or men's basketball, where I know it has played a role in the past ...

Very proud that my teams ace - Kentucky , has a pitcher that wears one , and as far as Daniel Lawry , I never liked her at UW and I sure don't like her now . She should shut the ole pie hole .

Took almost 60 years for NHL Goalies to wear masks - these things take time - But it is changing.

Not my kid! I have taught her smart kids wear a face mask on the field and a helmet on a bike!

Manitoudan, you gave me a good chuckle with that pie hole comment.
