Q: Will individual team (age specific) tryouts be posted under this discussion thread?
A: Each manager may schedule and post their own team tryouts as well, outside of the scheduled Blast organization tryouts on (now) 8/5 (due to rainout), 8/11, and 8/18.
We encourage everyone to reach out to the manager or contact listed for their age group to inquire about additional team tryouts!

Q: "I submitted my daughter's tryout registration, but did not receive an email acknowledging her registration?"
A: After submitting your registration, it brings you to a summary screen where you can enter another registration if you have another daughter or player to register. Once you review the summary, and have no other players to register, you must click on "Finalize" your registration. An email will then be sent to the email address you entered, as well as our managers.

If you did not receive an email, you probably just forgot to finalize the registration! Send a text to 330.509.9248 with your information and I can verify for you. Please don't register a second time, as it will result it a duplicate database entry!

Q: Are we still expecting to have an 11/12 team for 2020-2021, and are we still looking for an 11 or 12 manager?
A: Yes to both. At the present time, we have a few interested candidates and are trying to find the right fit for managers, players and organization! It is good to see all the 11/12u registrations and calls though!

Q: Is online registration required in order to tryout at any of the Blast sessions?
A: Although we do recommend you register in advance, it is NOT required. We will have a sign in process onsite at each of the tryout sessions as well.

Please arrive about 30 - 45 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled session for registration and warm-ups.
Pitchers and catchers may be asked to stay slightly longer.
Please be sure to bring all your gear and wear long pants, sliding shorts, and spikes.
Also be sure to bring plenty of water!

Some of the 2020-2021 Blast managers are separately starting to post about tryouts for their respective teams as well, which may include info about their private or small group tryouts! Please keep an eye out for their posts as well!

Q: If my daughter is a pitcher, will we be required to have someone there to catch her for any portion of the tryouts?
A: Yes. We have several pitchers trying out and will need Dad or Mom on hand to warm them up and perhaps call her pitches during warmups!

Q: Are there any special COVID-19 related guidelines players and parents need to be aware of for tryouts?
A: Yes. As always, we ask that everyone follow local and state guidelines, as well as the Responsible Restart Ohio guidelines.

In previous years, we also provided water during tryouts. However, we are not permitted to do so this year due to COVID-19. So please make sure you have plenty of water available for your player(s) and yourself.

We will have sanitizer on hand at the sign in/registration table, and each manager will have sanitizer on hand for their tryouts. However, please make sure you also have sanitizer available for your player(s) and yourself. We will also remind the players to sanitize between drills whenever possible.

Please follow the local and state face covering guidelines or mandates. Players are not required to wear face coverings during drills.

We will remind each player to socially distance themselves (whenever possible) from other players during tryouts. This will include when they are in line waiting for their turn during the drills! Please take the time to address this with your player(s) as well!

Welcome Mallory Swogger as a non-parent manager of our 12U team this coming season! Mallory played 2 years for the Ohio Blast when she was younger under Coaches Mike Helon and Rudy Franken. She also took hitting lessons from Ron Dennison for 6 years! She then went on to play softball at Baldwin Wallace before proudly joining our armed services as a member of the Army! She came back to the Blast this past season and wanted to help out and coached our 8U team!
