I bet if you daughter was a 2021 and not recruited yet or a 2022 you would be all in?

DanMaz would like to hear a reply to the post above that was solely directed towards me. The fact that I'm speechless to respond is because I'm still taking deep breaths and shaking my head. I need time to compose myself. The fact that so many responded by liking this statement, people that have expressed likes in support of my viewpoints on matters, people that I have grown to respect, has me shaking my head even more.

If your daughters truly have the talent for fastpitch softball that you believe she has, she will have a chance to play at the next level. If your daughter truly has the talent and desire to play in college, there is a chance a school will be a good match. If both of you know she is owed the opportunity to play at the next level, few coaches at any credible schools will care, especially if her GPA and test scoring doesn't fit into the slot above the cut-off line. Softball at any level is not self-sustaining monetarily. Therefore, it is nonessential. At all levels, it is about the money.

I get you are marketing your daughter. You believe it to be an important factor in her immediate future. People in outdoor sports have champion to get the powers in administration to understand the lesser risk of outdoor activity. The problem stems from grouping such as team travel, dugout situations, and the ever present team bonding and socializing. While you don't believe the risks are real, it only takes 1 to infect others. While it may not be a death sentence to you or your child, it may be to your immediate family member, your best friend, your coaching staff, or some poor innocent soul that just happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Ask yourself; Is it worth putting somebody else's life in jeopardy so you and your daughter can experience a game?

Nobody ever said the world will not return to some normalcy once we get a handle on the virus. If it doesn't, you are the first to see the new normal and need to accept it. This situation is not isolated to our country. The entire world is reacting to the virus due to its known nature. We're still learning some of the unknowns. This didn't occur because of our leaders in this country. We are reacting to favor the majority of the population of the country and the world.

With all due respect, the softball world is not that large..................

I'll shut up now.

here here all mighty one.... i respect you! i respect all opinions.

just for comparison purposes, wrestlers don't quit or not wrestling because of the fear of getting staff infection, nor does football even though it will happen somewhere. so................. with softball i think its a family choice and everyone has a different situation and makes those decisions accordingly. nobody can see the future, so play one day at a time and have the most fun you can!!

Not really sure why you got so fired up, my point is 2021/2022 just got a bad hand dealt to them, my guess is that if your DD fell into these circumstances that you would not be real happy with the situation. That’s all!

I cannot change the world. I can't make the virus or any disease go away. I am helpless. I am not a doctor nor do I run a laboratory with access to the resources to develop a cure or vaccine. I am mortal like all of you-----------well most of you. lol. I can only do my part. Staying at a Holiday Inn Express will not hold up in court. lol.

Let's review. If everyone stopped all non-essential activity, washed their hands, sanitized, and wore a mask even tho it may not be 100% full proof or foolproof depending on how you interpret the government orders, where would the country be in terms of the pandemic?

Why are we not seeing the results of our efforts? Because not everyone is doing what is mandated.

The real topic here is; How serious is this virus? You have your opinions. I have mine. The "unknowns" leave all of us questioning decisions being made. We can only assume the decisions are based on what they do know---------and possibly not telling us. Example; Staph infections are something we know. Anyone knowingly wrestling with a contagious staph infection is putting others at risk and we should all be in agreement that would be irresponsible. Knowingly putting others at risk for any reason is simply selfish. Defending it is condescending and arrogant.

Unknowingly putting others at risk is, in itself, risky enough. That's why in the case of Covid-19 we need to abide to no contact, non-essential activity, and safety measures even if they are an inconvenience.

The world is full of people looking to live in the gray area between black and white. You guys, most of you, I trust to do the right thing. It's the others I don't trust. I'm normally in agreement that the government should have less to say about how we live our lives. This is a free country. However; when it comes to a world-wide pandemic, we live free but at a cost.

Unfortunately, today's youth are missing out on some of the fondest memories we experienced growing up. It's not our fault. It's also not the first time the country has ever gone thru something similar. We cannot predict the future but we all would be the blame if our youth are forced to live the rest of their lives with irreparable health issues because we wanted them to play a game..............

I feel the bottom line is this... plain and simple:
If parents and players feel comfortable they should have the option to play.
If parents or players do not feel comfortable its totally fine.. dont play until you feel comfortable.
But those that want to should be able to.
Nobody is ever going to agree completely either way so it should be up to each individual family and team.

We shouldn’t discount the long-term consequences if we locked up our teens. We need them to be well-adjusted adults to handle the burden of paying off the growing government deficits. (I know, I went off on an tangent, but I think a lot of teens will grow up bitter after all of this done.)
