Re: June 19-21 IFA 14u Region 10 Championship II

Other states as well. Kentucky has some tournaments in the Bowling Green area as well as in Cookeville, TN (near Nashville) in late March. List of Kentucky tournaments is in the Kentucky thread. I try to update them when I get a chance to do so.

MOTEL INFORMATION

We have tried our best to work with the motels in the Northern Cincinnati area about obtaining good rates for the teams. What does help in getting these good rates... is the rate is always less during the weekday versus the weekend. Thus, our reasoning for holding this event beginning on a Monday.

The list of motels listed below is blocking off rooms for us as there are MANY events in the Greater Cincinnati area tournament week . PLEASE NOTE TO THE TEAMS COMING BY AMTRAK FROM THE WEST OR SOUTH. Being the train does not depart for the return trip until August 3rd, 2009 in the a.m. hours (see schedule listed) ... and the tournament is over on Saturday, August 1st if this rain date is used.... IT IS MY sugggestion that you book in with Holiday Inn - Sharonville.

Holiday Inn Sharonville, our IFA 14u National HOST HOTEL will also honor the same rate for those extra days that you must stay in town before catching the train back to your destination.

HOTEL LIST:

Please note, when making reservations with the following motels, please call and the Promotional Code is : "IFA 14u Nationals" . This will get you into the block of rooms.

AMTRAK TRAIN SCHEDULE

Please note: Clearly understand that Amtrak is giving 20 % percent off their normal rates for groups of 20 or more based on availability. After spending countless hours with Amtrak officials.... I am going to be taking the team's reservations. PLEASE CONTACT ME and do not book directly with Amtrak. The reason is... is for the amount of people coming to the event from certain locations... for a EXTRA passenger car to be assigned to the train... there are conditions that must be met.... like all the participants from Nevada must meet in one location in Nevada to get on the train, etc...

Go to www.amtrak.com to see schedule and prices. Please note: The prices listed is their normal price. Take 20% percent off that listed price.. add the tax... for your total price ( Based on 20 person booking)
I have found that two (2) adults and one (1) child can travel from the West Coast cheaper by Amtrak than for one (1) adult to travel by plane.

QUESTIONAIRE

Please take the time to answer and forward your answers back to me at ohioifasoftball@yahoo.com

1. Are you going to eat breakfast sitting down (restaurant style) when you play the 8 am game ? The reason this is asked is that most teams are at the park by 7 am warming up for the 8 am game. The restaurants around this area do not open up until 7 am... But, I have two restaurants who would open early for the girls. At 5:30 a.m. actually.

I I Yes, we will be sitting down for breakfast

I I No, we will not being eating breakfast

If you are eating breakfast, which is your preference:

I I Frisch's (Bob's - Shoney's) Breakfast Bar type of set up ( 3 minutes from the Park )

I I Bob Evans ( 5 minutes to the Park )

For these restaurants to open up early for the girls, they wish to have a count of teams that are willing to eat at their facility to make an effort to open for the girls at 5:30 a.m..

Re: Teams Qualified for IFA Nationals

It's Ricky's Independence Day Blowout event in Zanesville, Ohio. You can play in it to get your 2 tournaments in to get an at large berth to the Nationals.

In other IFA states, teams are required to play in three IFA events to get an at large berth for the "B" division.

I have the same question as Ohio Wave. How can an ASA event be an IFA qualifying event?

Added July 3-5 event (an ASA event) as a qualifying event for IFA Nationals.

Now do not hold me to this answer. I am just guessing.
There are only a few IFA tournaments in Ohio this year. Since the July event is being run by a person who is also running IFA events, Tim decided to us it as a IFA qualifying event. if someone needs one more qualifier.
